I have been known to like some stuff that were trashed in reviews, did not sell well, overlooked, or everyone else I knew did not like, or known not to be the best work by that particular artist. Here are some of mine. Alot of it's just probably taste and opinion!

Black Sabbath- Born Again,Dehumanizer,Eternal Idol
VH-Diver Down and Fair Warning
Black Crowes-Lions
Aerosmith-Night in The Ruts,Done With Mirrors,Rock In a Hard Place
Doyle Bramhall-Jelly Cream- I think that has been ovelooked and is very good!!
Chris Stills-100 yr thing
Zep-Coda
Jethro Tull-Catfish Rising
AC/DC- Fly onThe wall
Dee Purple-Burn, that kinda gets swept under the rug sometimes when DP albums are mentioned

Probably more that I am forgetting....

Jerry Harrison - Casual Gods
Rickie Lee Jones - The Magazine

Off the top of my head because both are currently in my car - a couple that I happen to enjoy that either did not receive wide play or were panned by critics.

DYLAN AND THE DEAD- I still don't know why everyone hates it!!

ELECTRIC MUD (By Muddy Waters- Despite the wailing guitar and busy drums, the integrity of the original blues is still present.

CHESTNUT STREET INCIDENT (1976)
JOHN COUGAR (1979) (By John Cougar Mellencamp) The earliest albums from John Mellencamp were deemed "unlistenable" by the critics, but these are two albums I always liked. The 1979 album is one of my all-time favorites, all the songs are catchy. Worth picking up in your local used CD store!!

SELF PORTRAIT- I've always liked Dylan's interpretations. Much of it was recorded around the time of Nashville Skyline, and he uses that distinctive country rooner voice. Also contains some great Isle of Wight Festival 69 tracks. Lotsa great stuff that people have been missing for years due to the critics.

Some others: WILD LIFE (Paul McCartney); THEIR SATANIC MAJESTY'S REQUEST (Rolling Stones); THE SOFT PARADE (Doors); CAHOOTS (The Band);
ISLANDS (The Band); MARDI GRAS (Creedence Clearwater Revival);
COMMUNIQUE (Dire Straits); CHICAGO AT CARNEGIE HALL

BURN is prob. my fav. DP LP....

The Stones "Their Satanic Majesties Request" is still one of the worst LP's i ever bought...& i'm a huge Stones fan...."Beggars Banquet" is my fav. all-time LP,closely followed by "Exile On main Street"....

another overlooked Masterpiece,IMO..."Just For Love",Quicksilver Messenger Service....

Black Oak Arkansas (since you must be a fan also, judging from your sig) has an LP that fall's in this catagory w/me....."LIve Muther" is always over looked in light of "Raunch n' Roll"..IMO,it's every bit as good...btw,i hope you have the Rhino re-issue of Raunch n' Roll containing the previous night's show along w/the orig. release..it's much rawer & real than the "officially" released LP..I like it better..

I know about Live Mutha, I like the song selections on R&R live. I have been debating whether or not to get the Rhino version of Raunch & Roll, thanks.

Black Crowes - By Your Side. Their hard core fans seem to hate it but I think it's a great Rock n Roll record.

Diamond Head - Canterbury
Heads, Hands & Feet - S/T, Tracks and Old Soldiers Nerver Die albums - early Albert Lee
It Bites - Eat Me In St. Louis

Wow. Great minds think alike. Another one that comes to mind is Who By Numbers. Also James Gang Thirds.

a lot of the hair bands stuff from the early 90's was slammed by critics and fans but most of those albums were more artistic than the stuff from the 80's:
poison- native tongue
winger- pull
warrant- dog eat dog
motley crue- self titled
dokken- dysfunctional

all of those are basically better than anything those bands did in the 80's

also i like:
the black crowes- lions
the rolling stones- satanic majesties request
van halen- fair warning (imo their best)
van halen- III (well i like most of it)
extreme- waiting for the punchline
living colour- collideoscope
black sabbath- dehumanizer

Ditto on that!

Lay Lady Lay and was it Girl From The North Country with Johnny Cash?

Another of the many LPs I've lost to flood or divorce.
