I just bought a 100-disc spindle from Office Depot for $30. Now I'm starting to wonder if that was so smart -- a little late, I know... The brand is "Spin-X" 40-x CDs. Anyone know if these are OK, or should I just return them now?

And as long as we're on the topic, any good internet sites for cheap, reliable discs?

I know this question has been asked a million times -- thanks for all your patience and info!

peace

30 bucks is too much for generics

Go to http://www.Bestbuy.Com Or just stop by if one is in your area.(free shipping and rebates) you'll find a better deal on name brand. I don't like to pay more than $.15 per disk

Most Traders like Fuji, TDK, Sony, Maxell or maybe Memorex

SpinX are generally unbranded cheapo discs. Do yourself a favor and return them and get a brand name. Fuji's made in Japan are widely accepted as the best off the shelf brand, most folks don't have a problem with most name brands. I've had great luck with all that yurtle mentioned, as well as Imation, and KHypermedia (in the 100 packs). The verdict is still out on the KH's in the 50 pks, for me, as the last bundle I bought were a dark blue ink made by Mitsubishi Corp. They burned fine, just don't know about longevity. Guess I'll find out if/when my friends start making a fuss about crappy discs I gave 'em!
Unbranded discs mean there is no shell coating over the foil that covers the ink for reflection. The foil is less than the thickness of a cigarette paper and it can flake or scrape off very easily. No ink means no data means messed up music.

I said maybe Memorex, and know some have problems with Maxell.
