I was just thinking, since Clapton has toured with Derek Trucks as a guitarist in his band, that he should do a tour sometime in the future & have Warren haynes playing with him. I think that'd be an awesome show since Warren can play & can also sing pretty good as well. Some might disagree, but I think it'd be an awesome show.

It would of course cause Eric to raise his playing again.

It would be great but I prefer Warren to stick to his own bands and his solo career. Even the Dead, I feel is a distraction and though I enjoyed this tour hope it does not become an annual thing.

I wonder if the ABB or Mule will now get invited to the next Crossroads Guitar festival?

How about Clapton at this years X-Mas Jam? People that played with Warren during the year have a tendency of showing up in Asheville.

Folks the question that no one asks, but I feel is the most revelant ... Is not whether Warren would tour as part of Clapton's band, (Personally, I feel this is a kind of silly question. Warren and Clapton are way more similar than not and the old too much testosterone on stage at once could possibly raise it's head in this circumstance.) But ... but ... WILL CLAPTON COME TO WARREN"S X-MAS JAM. You would have to think that Warren invited him. The X-mas Jam has turned into probably one of the most coolest musical events around - a sort of feather in the cap of the invited. Clapton would have the opportunity to jam with a lot of different folks than he would normally have the chance to. I'm sure it would be a delight to him not to mention those in attendance. And all money raised goes to a good cause. Clapton may be impressed that Warren has been a part of a cool charity event that has been going on much longer than Crossroads. And the recipients seem a lot more deserving (to me at least) than addicts or alcoholics. With the sales of the DVD ... more people helped and Clapton's hip factor (as if it needed any help) is boosted. Folks ... I'm going out on a limb and calling it Clapton at this year's X-mas Jam.

Clapton playing with Warren on tour is not going to happen.

First off it is too much off a commitment for Warren to drop everything for a year or so.

Derek was invited by EC to recreate the Derek & Dominoes record live. Eric has wanted to do justice to that music for several years when Derek got the call.

Now for One Off's anything is possible with EC. However, around XMAS time EC plays charities in London. While it is not impossible, unlikely around the Holidays.

Clapton & Winwood, then maybe Clapton & Beck maybe, repeat maybe, some more select Cream dates. Also other collaborations are always possible with Eric.

Next Crossroads festival, next year, now that is indeed another story.

Hey chuckels (you know that's a nickname of mine as well) Eric is now married to an American woman with a pad over here now as well. I'm sure he'll do some time with the in-laws (... or else ... like we all have too) around that time. What a great excuse to get out of the house while over here during that beloved yet stressful time. I'm stickin' with my prediction. Of course ... I'm not 100 % on these things either. Else I'd quit my day job a long time ago.

Iíll probably regret this butÖ.

Clapton has shared the stage with SRV, Jeff Beck, Derek, Santana, Mark Knopfler, Duane, BB, Buddy Guy, George Harrison, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, etc etc etc (Some being the occasional one off jam and some being prearranged tours)

I doubt that he is concerned about sharing the spotlight with Warren Haynes.

And here is the part I will really regretÖ.

With all due respect to Warren and his fans, I doubt EC would be all that interested in what Warren brings to the table. Not a slam on Warren or his fans, different strokes for different folks.

As a one-off, maybe if circumstances fit, anything could happen, but I doubt EC would tour with Warren.

But Iím not in ECís head so who knows, maybe EC would want what Warren brings.

But personally I doubt it.

I know EC spends time with family, but like the RAH, his "traditions" put him in London for an
incredible gig, New Years eve.

I do like the nickname Chuckels, since going thru life you do have to Chuckle as much as possible!!

It helps keep some of us a little younger.

The X-mas Jam is early December usually. Plenty of time. How 'bout a little gentlemanly wager? A spot of tea ... perhaps? Make mine THC. Lol!

Warren is no sideman. Anytime he is in a position where he is not a clear onstage leader, his usefulness is diminished. Not that he does not fit in with any band at any time in any place. But Warren should not give up valuable time in the limited amount of time we all have left on this earth, to be a sideman for Eric Clapton. His fans would MUCH rather see him with the Allmans or the Mule where he shines his best.

Warren raising funds for Crossroads would be nice.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Crossroads Centre is a non-profit, International Centre of Excellence for the treatment of alcohol and other drug addictions.
The program was founded by Mr. Eric Clapton on the beautiful island of Antigua, West Indies. Residential and outpatient services are provided within a Twelve-Step framework while integrating key complementary therapies to provide a whole person approach to treatment and ongoing recovery.
We believe that through a program of abstinence and a change and improvement in lifestyle, people and families have the capacity to recover from addiction. Indeed, recovery from addiction is possible and is often lifesaving.
Residential treatment provides a unique opportunity for individuals suffering from alcohol and drug addiction to immerse themselves in an intensive therapeutic and supportive environment. Away from the daily distractions of everyday life, our physical environment is one of peace and tranquility which offers our clients a safe place to begin the process of recovery. In addition to our alcohol and drug rehabilitation program, our services include: intervention referrals, aftercare planning, transitional living residences, and an integrated family program.
We are here to help individuals and their families whose lives are controlled by alcohol, drugs or other compulsive behaviours Ė Helping them to make the changes necessary to find new health, a new sense of well-being and a new life of recovery.
Actually doug Warren has been a sideman and a damn good one at that. Think Dickey Betts Band and ABB circa 89-96. As a matter of fact he shown through pretty well in that limited role. He actually kicked Dickeys ass and spurred him into heights he hadn't reached since Bro Duane. And he carried the band during that time on more than one occassion. Now don't get me wrong ... No early Mule ... especially Dose. No Deepest End. No Phil Lesh and Friends There and Back. No saving the ABB ship in 2001 or 02 when was that. That acoustic record from Bonaroo. Well ... I can definately see what you're saying.
However, a damn good argument made that Brother Warren has spread himself more than a little thin. He ought to be burnt out. I know I certainly am from time to time. Think what he could do if he didn't have to keep all those plates spinning up in the air. No nigtly picking songlists for 10 or 12 bands or running a record company. He might be able to write 10 or 12 incredible songs instead of 4 or 5 great tunes interspersed with 60 mediocre songs spread over 3 album in a year. Hell he might be able to out play Derek for once in a loooooooonnnnnngggg time. Well ... maybe not.
There are a lot of artists where a little break has helped them. Think just about everybody in rock. Would it help Warren? Will we ever find out?
