Supposedly a roadie forcefully retrieved that guitar for Pete.

Could you imagine trying to get out of that place carrying it. You would think it would be ripped into pieces.

Have you seen the Killburn DVD from The Who?

Pete is at his "testy" best...at a couple of points he starts arguing with someone offstage and appears like he just might go kick some arse.

He also throws out a challenge to the crowd about a fight...

Pete....

That is one COOL story man...

Could you easily understand them, with their accent and all? Honest question, not trying to make fun of anything.

The Abbie Hoffman Incident{{Wikipedia Link | [2] was an incident that happend during The Who's set right after the song "Pinball Wizard". Abbie Hoffman was able to get on stage and grab a microphone during Pete Townshend tuned his guitar. He said: "I think this is a pile of **** ! While John Sinclair rots in prison...". Hoffman was protesting against the imprisonment of John Sinclair (leader of the White Panther Party and manager of the left-winged Hard-Rock band MC5) who had been convicted and sentenced to nine years of prison because of marijuana possession. Townshend, angry that someone took the stage, yelled: " **** off! **** off my **** ing stage!", hit him with his guitar and sending him off stage again. Townshend then added: "I can dig it!"; And after the song "Do You Think It's Alright?": "The next **** ing person that... on the stage gets **** ing killed! [crowd cheers] You can laugh!!" (this is hardly audible)[3]. A 16 second sound bite of the incident can be heard on The Who compilation set entitled Thirty Years of Maximum R&B (Disc 2, Track 20, "Abbie Hoffman Incident").

Pete Townshend threw his smashed guitar off stage but according to The Kids Are Alright DVD liner notes the guitar was retrieved from the crowd by one of the roadies for the band[4].

Understanding them was not a problem, Kieth moon stole my girlfriend at the time and shall we say had his way with her, i thought it was hilarious, since at the time getting female company was not a problem.. The Bands name i played in was "The Noblemen" from Oklahoma city Oklahoma, and we had a couple of local records and were doing very well for a garage band.
We got to open for the Yardbirds twice,Mitch Ryder and the detroit wheels, the buckinghams, the Five Americans, the Exciles, we backed Bobby Goldsboro, the Who ,and other bands from the midwest we had a great 3 year run but broke up in 1968... I got to meet Kieth Relf from the Yardbirds and Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck, Pete and Kieth from the who I got invited to go on the road as a roadie with the Yardbirds just before they broke up and turned into Led Zep... Hmmmm what might have been,, lol
