Since 1993 - almost every Summer ......

Shows are great. About 10 people on stage - brilliant players

I saw them in '96 at the Hollywood Bowl. I remember being impressed with the show. A large ensemble of talented musicians. I think this was shortly after they began touring again, if memory serves me well. They were good, but that's been 13 years! I was bummed that they didn't do Reelin' in the Years given where I saw the show......had geared up for that. They open with Do it again, and did My Old School in the encore which was fun.

Enjoy!

Saw then way back in '73, supporting "Can't Buy a Thrill", when Steely Dan was actually a band, instead of Fagen/Becker with a bunch of studio players

I saw them four times last year. I know, a little much I guess, but I just couldn't pass up the opportunities. I always have a good time at a Steely Dan show.
Expect to hear a lot of the Aja, Royal Scam, and Gaucho albums. It seems that these are what they like to play most. Very tight large band. ENJOY!

Saw them in 2007............GREAT show. Just go. People have criticized them for not stretching out much, sticking with the song structure, but that's what Steely Dan is about. You won't find a lot of tie-died Deadheads at a Dan show. It's a tribute to Becker/Fagen's writing that they don't need to go outside of the song structure to have a tremendous live show. And besides, there are spaces for a solo in nearly every Steely Dan song, and they have some great improvisational players in their band.

I saw the Dan last summer in Detroit (with Joey
Defrancesco) after being a casual fan for decades.
Be forwarned - they are NOT a nostalgia act. They
are like a jazz-rock orchestra that occasionally throws
the audience a commercial nugget (ie., a `hit') to
satiate them. That said, I really enjoyed the show.
And like many rock vocalists of a certain age, Donald's
voice has seen better days.

4 times at the Beacon in the last few years. Excellent show and they tour with an excellent band. I understand from reading the most recent issue of Rolling Stone, that they will do three releases in their entirety while playing in NYC; Aja, Gaucho and Royal Scam. A different release each night. Sounds awesome!

They were great the two times I saw them, but the last time I saw them was about six or seven years ago. I'm sure they are still great live. Give us a review after your show.

Saw them on the very first year of reuniting back after their hiatus as Steely Dan. Was in either '93 or '94 tour as Steely Dan. Fiddler's Green, Denver, CO. Fagen and Becker kicked ass!! With Fagen's arrangement of the band(small orchestra). Becker is very subdued but plays awesome leads as he always did. Played songs from the old days, some of Donald's. Walter did appear on some of Fagen's solo releases and vise versa despite the rumors of a feud.

They were great back then! (I was just starting to appreciate them when Pretzel Logic was released, but I wasn't totally sold on 'em yet) Then, I saw them in the gym at UC Santa Barbara either late '73 or early '74; Kiki Dee opened. There were serious electrical problems; all the lights, PA & amplifiers kept popping the circuit breakers. Kiki Dee managed just a few songs before the power to the entire gym went out. She & her band waited onstage for probably 45 minutes before they were given the "never mind" sign & left the stage...the road crew set up Steely Dan's gear, but there were still major probs with the power. Steely Dan finally hit the stage about an hour later, but the power went out AGAIN during the first song. Another hour went by, the gym was quickly turning into a sauna, since the A/C was out, too. Finally, the electricians got the problem fixed, Steely Dan hit the stage...Donald Fagan apologized for the wait and said "we'll make it up to you". They played EVERYTHING off their first three albums, a couple of songs that would eventually appear on Katy Lied and "Kid Charlemagne" which wouldn't show up until Royal Scam. It was almost dawn by the time the concert let out. I was hooked. Then little by little from there on, "the band" slowly evolved into Fagan & Becker.

The band:
Donald Fagan: piano, vocals
Walter Becker: bass, bkgnd vocals
Jeff "Skunk" Baxter: guitar
Denny Dias: guitar
Michael McDonald: B3 & synth, bkgnd vocals
Jim Hodder & Jeff Porcaro: drums
three female bkgnd vocalists

Have seen Steely Dan twice , in 1996 at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto , great venue outdoors , it was the " Art Crimes " tour and the highlights for me were " Kid Charlemagne " and " Don't Take Me Alive " great show .
I saw them again last year in Ottawa , outdoor show as well , great band " The Royal Scam " was that nights highlight for me , needless to say I love " The Roayal Scam " album , what great music they made in the 70's .

I've seen them 3 times. Twice in 2000..(same tour) and in the summer of '06. The 2000 tour was some of the best "live" music I've ever heard, hands down. The '06 show...was good in it's own right, but it was more of a "greatest hits"...sing a long.

Go see them.
