Ciinco de Mayo weekend and it's supposed to rain most of the weekend here in the bay area. No bbq's or pool time but I think I'll make some chili verde and have some good tequlia.
I started drinking 100% agave a couple of years ago and really enjoy it. So what are some good brands that you enjoy. The best I've had so far has been Gran Centrino.

How much do you want to spend?

I caught an awesome sale today and splurged on a bottle of Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Platino. It is fabulous. Normally runs around $80 but was on sale for $65.00. It's newish on the market. Its seasoned big brother Cuervo Reserva de la Familia Anejo which runs around $100.00 and is the best tequila I've ever tasted.

It's interesting about Cuervo, popular but not that great until the high ends, then they rock.

All three Patrons are reasonably priced and I'd recommend the Plato (silver) which is also the cheapest of the three - around $45.00.

If you want to go cheaper, try any of the Sauzas - Tres Generaciones is very good at around $38.00 or so. None of the above should be shot. Chill them over a little ice and sip. Rim the glass with a little salt if you like....no citrus required either, but a little orange slice is nice.

Stay away from the "Golds" and the low end reposados, they often have added color or sugar.

Enjoy!!!

The Gran Centrino represado normally sells for around $55 but I got it onsale for $35. I useally try and stick to the $25-$40 range. Cazadores and Milagro are quite good at that price point. I do avoid the non 100% agave tequilas as they are only 51% agave and the rest being sugars and coloring and whatever else.
I'll have to save my pennies and try that highend Cuervo.

Porfidio Anejo Single Barrel is the best I've ever had but it's pretty expensive (believe it's something like $100+ per bottle) ... great for sipping.
