Don't. I have had to clean up the Limewire mess off of a few teenagers computers....

Do a google search - I seem to remember some good articles on why not to do it - unless you like virus's and opening up your computer to others.....

Thank you for the input, we have a young family friend who wanted to load his new ipod using this, and I had my doubts.

I've used it for years. Never had a problem with it at all. I am on a Mac, if that matters.

I've used it for probably close to a decade. I've never had a single problem. When you search for a song, you'll get some b.s. responses (porns, movies, weird files), I'm guessing if you download one of those, that's where problems can occur. But, if you're a bit savvy, and only download mp3's that appear to be the right size (i.e., the name, file type (mp3) and size look like they're a song and not some file mislabeled as a song), I really think you should have no problem.

Um . . . isn't this primarily a pirate site, i.e., a place that allows P2P sharing of member's music collections, most of which are probably commercial releases?

I have some killer Mule from Limewire. James Hetfield doing Drivin Rain with Warren is better than the law allows.

sure pops, i've used it on Macs for years and never had a problem (takes a long time for me, but..). They go automatically into iTunes, bam.

also, i have never ended up with the wrong (indecent) file - easy to look at the file size, etc.

The law doesn't allow it.

Wott does the law allow? I had no idea this tune was a commercial release. Of what music I do have from there, (20 songs?), it's all live and if it's pirated from Mule tracks the next time I see Warren I'll buy him a beer.

My advice is this, don't download LimeWire into your computer. If the kids have downloaded it, and you find it on your computer, delete it immediately, run your anti virus and anti spyware programs.
While some have no problem with it, the majority of you will.
LimeWire itself is not the problem, it's the viruses, Trojans, and hijack programs that accompany files downloaded through LimeWire.
This week alone, I've had six customers that their PC just quit allowing them to get on the internet, several with additional problems such as cd drives disabled, bios degradation, and re-directed home pages (usually to porn sites) with pop-ups that come so fast you can't click off them quick enough before all system memory is used up.
The "self-installed" programs of "Personal Anti-Virus", "XP Anti-Vir Pro", Wyyo, and several other of the internet extortion types (pay me to get this program off your computer) are also loaded.

The link between all these is that it happened after Limewire was installed.

Granted, if you have a good internet security suite, and a good firewall installed that you would be fairly well protected, but it doesn't help if someone keeps clicking "OK" and "Allow"
during installation.

PS: If the kids loaded it on the PC, explain just how long it will take for their allowance to pay for the $200+ to clean and repair the computer.

Hmm. My buddy bought this one for me. Maybe he kept the extra CD, I'll have to call him this morning. Actually he's a cool dude who has bought me a lot of good stuff. He has sent me Deepest End and Clapton's book, plus he sent me a new CD player to put in my pickup when I bought it. Nice to have buddies like that eh?
