I used to like going to the movies until recently. I really don't like most of the movies that have been coming out for the last 10 years or so. Most of them are either remakes of older movies, lame sequels, Disney lookalikes, or overly computerised sci fi/ superhero/action films. Do people make movies anymore where they rely solely on acting?

Another Harry Potter movie coming out? I proudly admit that I haven't seen a single HP movie, and don't plan on seeing one anytime soon.

I enjoy "good movies" , and i totally agree with you. We rarely ago as a family, it's to expensive and plus like you mentioned , all re makes re hashed part II and etc...
I just like to keep my eyes out for anything good, or that i would feel like I would have to see in the theater. I think the last one that i went to was Batman back in August of last year.

Another thing I can't stand about modern movies is that the villians just don't seem to die quick enough!! It seems like in many action movies, the hero fights the villain for an hour, and seems to have the bad guy down. But then the bad guy gets up again and they fight for another hour, and another and another and on and on and on.... until it grows tiresome.

Bruno, Inglorious Basterds and Public Enemies look like they are worth checking out.

My son will want to see the new HP but he is old enough to go and see him himself so i'll wait till the DVD release. Same with the new "Transformers" movie although the FX look spectacular and will be cooler to watch in a big theater. Going to the movies with the family is indeed getting way to expensive.

I was relieved that "Public Enemies" is indeed a prohibition-era gangster movie but not a remake of the James Cagney classic. Most remakes suck big time.

I used to go to the movies all of the time. Now, I can't even remember the last time I went, probably either 'King Kong'(which was a huge disappointment) or 'War of the Worlds'. The lack of good movies combined with the price and the advent of large HDTVs is what has turned me off to movie theaters. I do miss the old single standing theaters and I sorely miss drive-inn theaters. I can't stand the whole hustle and bustle of the multiplex thing.

That being said, I am really looking forward to that 'Star Trek' flick! I am a big fan of the original TV series and hope it lives up to the hype!!! I will definitely catch that one in a theater.

Before the kids came along, my wife and I would keep a white board total of summer movie hits and misses. Seems these days I see 2-3 tops and the rest on pay per view.

Looks like a good batch for this summer.

There is some rockumentary coming out about this crappy 80's hairband named Anvil. Althought i have no interest in the band the movie looks absolutely fantastic.

I'm so glad I have two drive-ins within driving distance (a long drive, but if you're making a family evening of it, what the heck).

Look's like we'll be in for some good double-features this Summer.

They'll usually do a PG13 first, then an R-rated movie. They don't replay the first movie again, though, as they did in the old days. These are really old-school drive-ins, too. One screen, snack bar, with those black-and-white sales reels between the movies.

Let's go out to the drive-in, let's go out to the drive-in (imagine sung by a dancing hot dog). Love the drive-in but there are none left in my town ... believe the closest one is in a town about 45 minutes away.

You really know how to hurt a guy Randy. No more drive inns on Long Island! Used to be a very enjoyable and affordable night out. You are lucky to have two to choose from and the old school aspect is even more alluring.

Do they still have the humps to park on to give you the perfect angle??? The only thing missing are the poles with those crappy speakers that would hang on the driver or passenger window.

Other than Star Trek (which looks pretty cool, and I'm not even a Treky), it looks like a quiet summer movie season, especially after last summer. I just can't get excited about any of these, though I'll probably go to Public Enemies and Terminator. Maybe.

That "Moon" looks interesting. I hadn't heard anything about that until I saw the trailer just now.
