No disrespect to the Clapton shows, but as I slowly make my way through the entire run via Moogis, I canít say Iíd rank either of the shows in the top three. I say this because I am likely going to buy 3 of the shows from this run off Instant Live, plus the one I attended (3/14). 3/26 is a lock, and for the other two, I can honestly say I am favoring the opening 3/9 show and the 3/23 show with the King Curtis guys. Sure, 3/19 and 3/20 were momentous occasions and the meaning behind him showing up was significant, donít get me wrong, but as far as my money goes, I donít know if Claptonís getting it!

Anyone else feel this way?

I like your taste. I was there 3/26 and 3/20. The 26th was head and shoulders above. Opening night was too much guest for my blood but excellent. 3/14 and 3/23 were probably my next 2 favorites after 3/26. I'd still put 3/20 in the top 5.

I disagree. I only attended 3-12 which was an excellent show but I watched every minute of every show and for me 3-20 was the best show followed closely by 3-26. I thought there were many great shows from the run and many great guests, but getting those DATD songs with Slowhand was just amazing IMO. 'Stormy Monday' on the 20th was nothing short of brilliant. The guitar work was just crazy good.

I'm going to pick up the Clapton shows (I'm more a fan of Clapton than the ABB, honestly), 3/26 and the show I was at (3/9), which was pretty good. That will probably do it for me - not that interested in most of the other guests.

The guy is a legend. He came out and played just fine...They were the highlight of the '09 run for me.

Clapton at the top of the list..

Kid Suck at the bottom.

great pics. thanks for sharing.

every show was special in its own way. I went to a bunch and watched them all on moogis. My favorite was 3-26 becasue they were the special guest! Musically I really did enjoy Trey and Page from Phish.

I can't afford them all so I am in the process of watching them all again on MOOGIS to see which ones to order. I will probably order one clapton show the 3-26 show and a few others. There were moments in each night that I will always remember. Some will have to be recorded to memory.

i disagree. all i was saying is going into the run, i pretty much asummed the best show of the run award would go to the clapton shows. i was commenting that to my surprise, i haven't found them to necessarily be the best shows. i'm not complaining, nit-picking, anything. perhaps that was a dumb assumption on my part. but i know moogis and the beacon shows have gotten more into the allman's than ever... i've still been listening to them non-stop and the run ended a month ago.

just making note of my surprise. it's only an opinion anyway.

Of the four shows I was at 3/10, 3/17, 3/19 and 3/23, 3/23 is my favorite. The WSP jamming in the 2d set was awesome as well.

Go back thru our play by plays and reviews and you'll know which shows were off the charts.

Hard to say which show is "the best", but right now my favorite is 3/23. The set with Jerry Jemmott, Jimmy Smith, and Bernard Purdie was just off the charts.

Ya know it somehow seems to get down to someone expressing his opinion about what is good better or best about some aspect of music and then the fights start. Duane had two very pertinent things he use to say a lot. 1) music in not a competitive sport. 2) we all have our opinions and opinions are like **** s: everybody's got one and everybody else's stinks. Isn't it possible to enjoy one of the finer things that human beings are capable of creating without turning it into a fight? I happen to think Hannah Montana is a joke. So what? A hell of a lot of kids are having a ball getting caught up in what she is doing. That's a good thing.

Maybe its just the times, but I always figured that music was suppose to bring people together, not cause them to have hard feelings.

If its not your bag, then why pound away on it?
My brother's a huge Genesis fan, its not my cup of tea, but at least when we talk about music, and he starts prattling on about Phil Collins, I try to find something positive to say, and then lead him to all the awesome guitar stuff he's missing.

Actually got him into Stevie Ray Vaughn by doing that, maybe even the Allmans one day....

wow.

I came just now to make the exact same post Dan.........you are ahead of me and I agree totally.

so here's the Langman take and please I do not need a lecture on the fact that this was a jam etc etc etc........of course it is.......but it was rehearsed and they played two nights together and the songs were well known ahead of time - sooo.......no surprises and not really a "jam" if you will.

but he is Eric "Slowhand" Clapton and I thought on my second listening last night that his playing was not THAT great really.......I have put off listening to these two Clapton shows with anticipation on purpose and last night was 3-20 night.........sure it was good > really good but not better than many other guitar players who have been a "guest".

any guitar guest is going to look and sound great when you have the Best 5 piece ribbum section tight as a frog's ass kickin' it behind you as your band with Derek and Warren as wing-men.........but the whole Clapton adoration thing is just a bit too far gone based upon these Beacon results.

this is not disrespectful........we are the hyper-critical fans of the ABB > this is what we do with honesty, pleasure and most of all respect > ........yes you can it nit-picking = OK.......yeah it is that......in the New York Times it is simply called being a "critic"..

This Clapton appearance has been in the waiting and built up for how many decades now??

not sure which is my favorite show but and going back thru and will check out 3/26 for sure.

we were there for 3/12-13-14-16........it was great..........Bekka Bramlett, Randy Brecker, Page McConnell (Southbound-keys), Asbury "Harn" Dudes (one of which is named Manion), Stanley Clark > these were some very exciting guest moments for me at least.

and of course it was "all damn good" > some shows were just much better than others (Kid Brock?) and each of us can have ourr own opinions........cause that's what we do here.

now about Bobby & Phil?? > well..........I have yet to get there.......I am purposely re-living much of The Beaocn run on Moogis long after the fact.........Savor(By Santana?)

nice post Dan.........to each his own.........it is just music after all.
