I do not. We have a considerable union presence which has prevented it thus far.

I'm self-employed w/ one employee, so no, not for work. Off hours, I have been known to conduct my own tests....

No. There would be a big turnover here if they did.

I worked for a masonry outfit down in Florida and this contractor asked our boss if our company drug tested and he said, "yeah, and if they ain't on drugs I'll fire their ass!"

I'm self employed, and I do like to test them before I buy them.

Drug testing is about as intrusive a practice as corporate has come up with in an attempt to control us. I'll starve in the street before I piss in another cup for an employer.

I agree Santa. I refuse to drug test employees, and that means I am throwing money out the door. They offer us a 5% discount on insurance if we agree to a drug testing program, a program that the federal government has access to results.

My brother has this attitude about paying taxes and drug testing. He's a smart kid who seems to be addicted to the attention of his pot smoking, shiftless and frequently out of work friends. He could have gotten a degree in college. You gotta think that at 41 my brother isn't going to make dramatic changes, but one bad habit seems to lead to another one. It's a lifestyle choice, and I think my brother walks a fine line and he lives on a slippery slope.

I piss in a cup. It's intrusive but the public school system doesn't need Goddamned stoners and drunks.

No, they need people like Dean Long driving the children around. It's too bad the don't have a test to identify internet psychos. I wonder what your brother thinks about the way your life has turned out.

Btw, genius, drug testing does not weed out drunks. It only tells you who has smoked pot in the past few weeks.

Good for you. Insurance companies dictating employee policy all over the country, for a measly 5% discount on insurance rates. If that isn't corporate leading this country around by the nose, I don't know what it is.

It's a big joke in many places, anyway. I used to work at a place that did random testing. The computer would kick out a name very month. My boss knew who smoked and who didn't. If someone's name came up he knew wouldn't pass, he'd ask, "Who wants to take _____'s piss test for him?"

BAAAAHHH!

There can be, depending on the type of work - if one is involved in some sort of accident - but in my position no.

But you'd be spending at least that 5% if you had to pay for testing, so it all works out in the end.

No it doesn't because Workmen's Comp can use a positive test for marijuana to deny claims to someone who was hurt at work. They don't have to prove that the person was under the influence at the time of the accident, just that they tested positive.

Yes, but I feel it is an impingement upon my liberty. What I do on my own time should be my business.

Here in G-Town, it is necessary to take and be on drugs while working for attorneys!

That actually depends on the states WC laws. Your scenario is true in some places (Georgia, for one and Florida if there is a "drug free workplace" program) but in others it does have to be proven the the "proximate cause" of the injury was intoxication--a positive test doesn't quite do that.

Further, it's a case-by-case basis. In an extreme example, if a guy is at work and the building collapses on him, he's going to be covered under WC regardless of whether he tested positive or not.

What does employee drug testing have to do with an administration that has been in office for 3 months? Do you think this just started, and that Obama is responsible? Are you aware that Obama has already said the DEA is going to back off on marijuana users?

Like carpet cleaners? Every time I see that Stanley Steamer commercial about how their employees are drug tested, I think why? A little buzz would improve the quality of their work!
