Yes, Carlos Santana sat in with Derek and band for maybe 45 minutes. Some of the most rightous jamming ever heard to mankind............I mean, how long before YOU would get tired of Derek Trucks and Carlos Santana trading leads? No time to write more now, gotta get ready for work. I'll just say this: Derek keeps raising the bar. This band has always been great, this was maybe my 6th or 7th time seeing them. But they've got more SOUL now than they've ever had.

This may be a bold statement to make, but I think Derek may be the future of improvised music. I hope some tapes of this show surface.

It's like watching a Coltrane develop right before our eyes and ears.......He was amazing last night....the whole band was amazing...Carlos loved Yonrico......He just kept looking at him and playing off of him.......He just had to be thinking....hmmmmm how do I get this guy in my band The grooves were so fat and tight......great show spent with some fine friends

It was San Fran, there will be multiple sources of this show. Yonrico posted on Facebook last night before the show the he was hanging out with Carlos. Pretty cool.

Wow!!! This sounds like a wonderful show!!! Derek and this band are some of the best of what music has to offer today IMO. And to have Carlos sitting in ... nirvana!!! I'm with everyone else - anxious to hear about taped copies!

On the electric side of the fence, yes. On the acoustic side of the ledger, however, there are many lead improvisors doing amazing work.

Really incredible show. Just posted a mini review on the GB. Best I've ever heard from this band, that continues to grow. The psychedelic factor is huge these days. Derek is so patient with his solos and there more openess (is that a word?) than ever. I caught that at the Beacon also, with his playing. Very paced, more dynamics than ever. Rastman Chant last night, I liken to a great version of Dreams, it was huge, especially when Derek and Kofi, on flute were weaving in and out of each other. Breathtaking! Like Ron (goldtop) said, greatness developing right in front of us.

dave - not sure you'll find too many arguments on here.

i would keep an eye out on archive.org for the show. most of them end up on there eventually, its not up as of now.
