No doubt the following facts will be shouted down as 'ignorant hate-speech' or some such nonsense but doing so does not negate their accuracy. This is what we have to look forward to and we have democrat voters to thank - or to hold accountable as the case may be.

# # #

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election:

Number of States won by:
Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29

Square miles of land won by:
Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by:
Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republicans won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegalís and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

This is a HOAX and you fell for it hook, line and sinker. Not only that, it pertains to the election in 2000. You are such a tool and your snarky little intro about the "accuracy" of this info just confirms it. LMFAO.

"The item cited above began circulating on the Internet since shortly after the 2000 U.S. preidential election, reappeared briefly after the 2004 presidential election, and saw a strong reserugence (in a modified form which replaced the named "Bush" and "Gore" with "MCCain and "Obama" after the 2008 presidential election."

IF it's a hoax I'll gladly stand corrected. Or is "factcheck.org" perpetrating their own hoax? Why is your source believable when mine is not? Moreover, while the actual numbers MAY be incorrect, the trends therein are hardly a bone of contention. More people get murdered in democrat heavy districts where a sizable portion of the electorate is dependent on the government. If you don't believe it, pick up a newspaper.

Here's just one example : freep.com

I assumed as much. You can't deny the accuracy of the trend even IF the message is a hoax, can you?

Woodsdweller, please consider not posting repeated images. Your cure is worse than the disease.

As to the original post, I find it funny that this right-wing story that has circulated for 8 years cites the study coming out of Hemline Univ, when it's Hamline. A hoax ought to be at least a little credible to have any effect.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the Presidential election:

I don't think it's ignorant hate-speech. It's just not factual. At all.

First of all, if one goes to Professor Olson's profile at the Hamline University School of Law, he, in his own words, states:

quote:
DISCLAIMER: There is a series of e-mails floating around the internet dealing with the 2008 Obama/McCain election and the 2000 Bush/Gore election, remarks of a Scottish philosopher named Alexander Tyler, suicide rates, or ANYTHING ELSE. Part of it is attributed to me. It is entirely BOGUS as to my authorship. I've been trying to kill it since December 2000.

http://law.hamline.edu/node/784

After that, the first set of facts states:

quote:
Number of States won by:
Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29

This is simply not true. The final Electoral Map for the 2008 Preidential Election:

quote:
Moreover, while the actual numbers MAY be incorrect, the trends therein are hardly a bone of contention.

This is a logical fallacy. You first claimed that the data used to reach your conclusion was factual, which it is not. There's not a statistician or analyst on earth that would proclaim that a "trend" exisited when the data to reach that conclusion was incorrect. Hell, an Excel spreadsheet won't even let you do that.

Now, as to these numbers:

quote:
Population of counties won by:
Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million

The "population" word is vague and obtuse. Population - total population? Voting population? That number adds up to 270 million. As of right now, the Population Clock states that there are 306,214,690 people in the US as of right now. That's a difference of 36 million people in just about six months, which would mean that we've added roughly the same amount of people in that short span of time as we did from 1990 to 2007. Logically, I'm going to make the conclusion that this is not possible and can in no way concluded that these numbers are "factual."

quote:
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

This is apparently the "trend" that you wish to use to make your entire based-on-facts point.

There is no source given for these numbers, so, naturally we can consult the FBI, no? Let's talk about the numbers that the FBI has posted for just the first half of 2008. Given that this was still President Bushes' FBI and since you were a Bush donor you would have no qualms about the validity of their numbers? Anyway, first thing to remember about any crime rate - law enforcement agencies submit crime data voluntarily, so there will always be a large logical MOE regarding the data.

Looking at the total country for the first half of 2008, the murder rate dropped 4.4%, over a population of just over 237 million. Since we already know there's more people than that in the US, we'll have to assume that there were law enforcement agencies that didn't submit data.

I'm assuming that since you provided a link to the Detroit paper that you were going for a concluding point that since the Democrats ruined cities, more people get murdered there? Well, the FBI has some surpising data! In the first half of 2008, The Metropolitan area murder rate went down 1.3%, but Nonmetropolitan area murder rate went up 3.8%!

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/2008prelim/table_1.html

Detroit showed a decrease in murders from 2007 to 2008, 182 to 136, respectively. Violent crime went down 9,404 to 8,443. One could also logically conclude, however, that there are less people living there so natually, the numbers decreased.

One thing that is interesting is that violent crime in Grand Rapids shot up 878 to 985, and the murders increased by one from 33 to 34.

http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/2008prelim/table_4il-mo.html

The only remaining conclusion to be reached here is that the overall trend that you propose is not supported by the data presented in your initial post nor by available law enforcement or census statistics.

I replied here because of the wanton and reckless abuse of the word fact.
