i saw that one live--it was part of a 70th birthday show for Willie @ The Beacon--alot of guests & shown on TV.THe show went till 2:00 AM!!

Interesting, that this version of the song was the second take--as the recording wasn't on for the first & they needed a do over--the first cut was actually better!

i recall many interesting guests with Willie that nite--EC,ZZ Top,Nora Jones,Leon & Ray(a musical highlight to me--seeing RAY!!!),many more i forget--country,rock,blues,jazz--that eve had so much great music--most nodded off around me or left but my wife & i hung in to the end...very special & unique event--got to meet & talk briefly with Willie after the show--what a nice person & a solid guy

How awesome for you to have been at that show - I can only imagine the talent, diversity and magic that was at the Beacon that night.

Thank you weallen-

For remembering (the One and Only) Gram Parson's "Song for You". He was a consummate songwriter as confirmed by the Japanese:

Sheesh- from karaoke to this ?? Its not half bad and it made me laugh until I snorted...

I've seen this one before, Effie, but thanks for posting it here. I could watch this overandover... one of my all-time favorites. A lot of people have covered this Leon song but nobody does it like the man himself ... very moving.

I was thinking about this Song For You by the Outlaws. Hughie had a nice voice.
