I'll go with Jimmy, but I've heard very little of Jack's work that I'm at a disadvantage.

I will take Jack Pearson anyday over all but Duane and maybe if i am good one day i will hear them two sit down and jam on the otherside mind you i know i am in no hurry and i am sure Jack is in no hurry but wow .... Jimmy is a great player but Jack has the Brothers in his blood he just knows the material and knows how to treat it with enough of the original and a good dose of Pearson..

Both are excellent guitarists and I'd take either of them if Warren or Derek couldn't make a gig.

*warning* This thread could turn into a trainwreck!

If you look at my music collection, you'd probably say, "oh, he'd take Herring in a minute," . . . but not necessarily.

I'd love to see Jimmy Herring do a couple of shows (after a brief visit in the early 90's, I got back on the bandwagon after the 2000 tour, so I missed out), but overall, I'd say Jack Pearson is a better fit with the ABB's style and sound. Of course, if Jack wants to take a break during Les Brers, Liz Reed, Jessica, or High Falls, that would be totally cool.

Haven't seen or heard enough of either with the Brothers to really say for sure. I'd be happy either way.

Good question--impossible to choose!! Two totally different guitarists--both of whom I could happily spend the rest of my life listening to.

I love them both, but would have to go with Jack for the ABB.

Ding ding ding. I was thinking exactly this as I was scrolling through the posts of this thread, before I got to your post. Even putting aside the magic that Derek and Jimmy put together, this still makes sense to my ears. Not sure how to put it without offending others, but Warren's slide playing has never quite gotten me. So if Derek is sitting out, then I'd love to hear Jackie P sub and add his flair on slide (and I did hear that at Wanee a few years ago). Jack is a great straight-ahead player too, but I think that's where Jimmy's real strength is. So if Warren sits out (Warren's guitar playing strength to me is his straight playing), then bring in Jimmy. Just the thought of hearing a Derek/Jimmy lineup again gives me chills. I hope with the upcoming WSP/ABB tour that they'll do a few songs on the tour where Warren sits out and takes a breather just to give Derek and Jimmy another go at some of those songs.....Loan Me A Dime, Stand Back, Les Brers.

That all being said, both Derek and Jackie P. are my two favorite slide players around, so it would be cool to see the two of them play together for a few hours.

Tough decisions....

Jack's got the slide thing happening.
It would be great to see Jimmy tour with Derek in their own bands and mix it up on stage.

I like Jack better with the brothers. His advantage over Jimmy is his excellent slide playing.

I enjoy both guitarists but sitting in with ABB, Jack's style is more suitable in my opinion.
