WOW!! What a great show they put on last night at The Cox Capitol Theater!

CAN I GET A WITNESS??

Jam gospel music at it's finest! These guys cook. Big surprise was Matt Slocum, formerly of The Peacemakers, and currently touring with Susan Tedeschi, sitting in on keys. Oteil was a delight to watch with them, adding lots of scat bass, and they did three of his songs from Believer. He was smiling and dancing around on stage. VERY spirited performance. AND they'll be at Wanee!!! YAY!!!

Saw lots of friends from Macon and other parts at the show. Got down early to Macon and had lunch at the H&H. Saw Mama Lousie and spoke to her. John Griffin took mine and Bluedad's picture with her. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Afterward, Greg and Laraine Potter took a bunch of us over to the Big House and gave us a progress tour. It's coming along nicely. We were led on tours of all three floors. Before that, I had never been passed the first two front rooms. My favorite room was the top floor, aka, The Ballroom. When the Big House Museum finally opens, it's going to be really nice.

Next we had a GABBA meeting. We have dates for it now...June 19, 20 and 21. As more details are finalized, more announcements will be made. Stay tuned.

Then the Lee Boys show. Then a stop at Waffle House for a quick bite and a cup of hot and black. Then the long ride home to Augusta. What a great day in Macon!

Thought this one was kind of cool, even if I didn't intend for it to look like that.

Yeah, the Stay and Play in Macon series. GOOD stuff, that is. Here's me and Bluedad with Mama Lousie, photo by JC Griffin. The gentleman above me is Maconite Jimmy Wells (not to be confused with The Outlaw Jimmy Wells.)

Great pics, Dave! Thanks for posting them. I HATED HATED HATED that I had to end up missing this concert...had been looking forward to it for SO long too! Had to be hospitalized Friday to have a kidney stone removed and just was not feeling up to snuff enough to make it.
Glad y'all got got the full tour of the Big House too! I love that top floor too...well the whole house just gives you goosebumps on top of goosebumps. Looking forward to the GABBA weekend too...will be our first!
Did you see all the articles in the Macon Telegraph today about the ABB? Very cool stuff.

Thanks for the pictures and review. I had strongly considered driving down for this one. I got busy cutting a video for ... somebody and couldn't tear myself away. Great to see Matt factored into this. How did having 2 basses work out? Looks like y'all had a good crowd, too!

The crowd came in sort of slow, but eventually, they showed up! As for two basses, Oteil used his bass sparingly, mostly for scat vocals and some lead bass stuff. They were never playing on top of each other. Lee Boys bass player, Alvin Cordy, Jr., plays a wild looking seven string bass and was really holding it down! Oteil did a lot of the vocals and Alvin did a few numbers. He has a great voice!

Well damn, Maconga. I'm supposed to be riding my Harley to Macon Saturday afternoon for a Georgia C.O.C. meeting at A.P.'s Hideaway. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it. Have a great gig!
