Get ready for another round of “Detroit Breakdown”: Longtime Motor City favorite J. Geils Band will reunite at the Fillmore Detroit on April 24.

The much-loved rock outfit hasn’t performed here since a New Year’s Eve show at the Palace in 1999. That millennial party followed a sold-out three-night stand at Pine Knob, the band’s first appearance here in 17 years.

Tickets for the Fillmore show will go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, according to promoter Live Nation. Tickets are $59.50 (floor) and $49.50 (balcony) and are available at the Fillmore box office and LiveNation.com.

Tickets also will be given away on-air by WCSX-FM (94.7) before Thursday’s on-sale.

Detroit was virtually a second hometown for the Boston band during its peak in the 1970s, when funky tunes like “Southside Shuffle“ and “Give It to Me” captured the hearts of party-primed crowds at venues such as the Cinderella Ballroom. Before its split in 1983, the group released three live albums, all recorded in Detroit.

Front man Peter Wolf was part of Kid Rock’s Rock N Roll Revival tour last year, which included a weekend of shows at Joe Louis Arena.

Harmonica player Magic Dick performed last Thursday at Callahan’s in Auburn Hills.

J. Geils Band spent most of this decade on hiatus, before being stirred into action last month for the opening of Boston’s new House of Bluesclub. The set earned largely positive critiques from local reviewers, including the Patriot Ledger newspaper, which described the band as “light-years beyond every expectation, inhumanly tight despite a lengthy hiatus, and palpably enjoying every minute of their return.”

Wish Middle Earth had a Fillmore... Would love to see these guys live again - excellent band! (I am encouraged to hear that the Boston gig wasn't an one time thing )
