This was a loaner to Oteil from the MiniPeachNutt collection. [Photo is by Lazy Lightning; apologies if I'm hogging his bandwidth.]

The bass was played on Keep on Smiling and Soulshine. It didn't get much notice because of Kid Rock's appearance, but for PN and me it was the high point of the evening.

Very cool - I assume that's the one you had Susan (and maybe others) sign in '07?

Same one. He got Butch's autograph that night, so the signatures of the entire band + Susan are on there. You can see one of the names near Oteil's hand, but I can't make out whose.

I did see that! It's an EB-0. Is it a Gibby or an Epi? Congrats, Tyler!

I think Oteil has had that one for some time now. Its good to see him bring it out. He also has a beatutiful hollow body that brings out from time to time.

I think it's a Gibson, but I see that shape and just think "SG," so maybe not. Regardless, Oteil was a great host to Tyler over the weekend and we're very touched.

Maybe he's got a similar one of his own, but no, this was very much a special thing and not something he'd played before that night.

I saw Oteil play what looked like an old Gibson EB-2, or maybe it was an Epiphone Rivoli bass, at Wanee with the Peacemakers one time. Ain't no tellin' what all kind of stuff he has laying around.

I thought I saw him playing a green bass that I hadn't seen before as well, maybe on the 28th?

Wow, that is very cool. And what appropriate songs to use it on. I would have to think THAT would have been one of the coolest things done in this entire Beacon stand and I am sure meant the world to the entire family. Your bro rocks and Oteil doing this honors Duane as much as anything else done during this entire stand. And did I read he got to go have dinner with Oteil and Derek as well ? That is some seriously moving stuff. Hope he'll keep on smilin!

The four of us had dinner with Derek and Oteil after the March 24, yes. They're great people and good company, which is how this other stuff came about, and he had an outstanding time. It was a great week for all of us just watching him.

That is so sweet and lovely, Marley.

Just MiniPeachNuTT - I play bass too, but I live someplace else. He's got a Gibson and I've got a Jazz Bass.

Thats cool about the dinner as well Marley! And I have the feeling Derek and Oteil are such good people they likely knew they were the lucky ones to be at that table. When I would come to this forum and read some of the nonsense throughout this run I knew I could always think of the experience your brother and family were having and know there was lots of great things happening and in this case happening for someone who really deserves it. Will be thinking good thoughts about you all.

that is so cool, Marley. I'm sure you both must've been on Cloud 9 during that song. I can't even imagine it...

On a side note, I thought of your brother/family each night as I 'Moogised'...wondering about the smiles/joy your brother must've felt watching the shows. Good for all of you. 'wishing you strength...

You know, Oteil doesn't need a bass that lights up all different colors. He just does that with his PLAYING.

(Sorry Dead Heads)

Hey Man, I totally agree with Dave man. Even with just 4 strings, Oteil is a maniac on the Bass.
