I'm not sure e-bay is the biggest problem on selling ABB shows. In the last 2 weeks I can't count how many people have asked how much I charge for live shows. Particularly the Instant Lives. Today I got 7 emails & PMs but the emails are comming from this site because it is the only place I have mentioned havinf the Instant Lives. so for the record...

I TRADE, I DO B&PS, I'LL EVEN GIVE THEM AWAY BUT I DON'T SELL SHOWS.

Lately I'm thinking I could quit my job and earn a pretty good living though.

Is anyone else haveing this problem. I used to get these request occaisionally but I'm getting several a day now. It's like I posted "Shows For Sale" Here somewhere and forgot about it.

Worse than that, I understand temptation and this must be going on here somewhere but again IT AIN"T ME.

That happened to me last year with the Denver Fillmore run. A guy in Breckenridge asked how much I'd charge for a copy of the Saturday show, I told him I don't sell the music. I explained the whole b&p process, then instead of sending back his jewel cases, I sent a pile of extra shows. I ended up bringing him more music when I went to the Breck Octoberfest about this time last year. Good folk. He only offered money because that was the only way he knew to acquire "bootlegs".

Just a thought, could we institute an adopt a groveller system and hook some of these people up with shows, along with a nice form letter explaining that the music is not for sale for any reason?

KC,
Hmmmmm.............could be baiting you to see if you'ld sell them and then tell the board about it.

Nobody who saw the Trades section here, would be dumb enough to think they need to buy a show to get it.

I agree they think that may be the only way to get a show but they approach you as if they think it is the normal way of doing things. I am sure they see the shows listed on the live show data base and contact those who have shows listed.

HERE IS WHAT I INTEND TO DO AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO DO IT ALSO.

From now on When I list a show on this site, under the comments section I will simply say, "This show is not for sale - Trades & B&Ps are welcome" My concern is that the temptation to sell a show to a newbie that does not understand may be too much for some and Frankly i suspect it is already happening based on the wording of some of the requests I have received. If others did the same you might weed out the ones not willing to list their shows that way.

Problem is I and others have a whole bunch of shows listed and would need to go back and edit every one of them which i am willing to do but will take time.
