Three big names receiving huge paychecks to make a movie that in no way shape or form could turn out to be good. Brady Bunch movie redux. This is a film if made that could bankrupt a studio.

Reminds me of the Honeymooners debacle....

The ironic thing, Hank is that the orginal Stooges died almost penniless. I went to college with a guy who took care of Larry in a nursing home and they got royally screwed by the studios.

Hollywood just doesn't get the concept of "don't mess with perfection - don't try to fix what isn't broken". Agree that it's foolish to attempt to re-cycle the 3 Stooges ... especially with the crew listed here (had to read this through twice to see if I got these names right )

I can't think of ONE remake that surpassed the original....although I'm sure there have been a couple.

Any old movie that relied on special effects may be able to get an upgrade thanks to todays technology. The Three Stooges, however, is something not to be messed with IMO. That is, unless the characters are Barack Obama, Joe Biden & Nancy Pelosi (I know, I know, Whipping Post)

I have to agree the 3 stooges were perfection, and what a shame those men died broke, the three people mentioned above could never pull this off, the first penn is not funny, the second ,no way and the third carey could not carry curly's Jockstrap... nothing but disaster for this prodject.

I think farrely bro.s would do a great job on it.
but i think they should use unknown actors , that way people could focus on characters
instead of the actors playing the characters

I'm not going to discount it without seeing it.

Some of the remakes, or moves-from-TV-shows kind of work because they're making fun of themselves at the same time. Starsky and Hutch comes to mind, as does the Brady Bunch.

And brofan, although I agree it would be a pretty short list, I'd rank Scorsese's Cape Fear as "equally good" at least.

Here I was scrolling down to see if Cape Fear got mentioned. You have good taste Droog. DeNiro is my favorite actor and his portrayal of Max Cady is awesome and Jessica Lange, well...

To even attempt to try and remake The Three Stooges is sacrilegious.

I thought Jim Carey was great as Andy Kaufmann in that biopic film.

but Curly is an ICON, tough to do justice to that.

There is a flim about the three stooges, behind the screen stories. It is not that bad.

but to try and redo those stooges gags is futile.

I have avoided the Steve Martin Pink Panther films because you can not top Peter Sellers in that role.
or do it justice. IN the trailers it comes across as Steve Marting playing the buffon.
Peter Sellers made it look natural.

I'd sooner watch my Three Stooges Marathon tapes I've made from Spike TV.

Cape Fear was good.

Every time I go to Wilmington, NC for business, which is often- about twice a month- I think about that movie...Wilmington is on the Cape Fear River and the Cape is just south of town on the Atlantic. One of my customers is Cape Fear Hospital.

And I TOTALLY agree about Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau....God, those are some of the funniest movies ever made. Sellers was PERFECT. What an underrated actor..he played 4 parts in Dr. Strangelove, another one of the funniest (George C. Scott's General Turgidson is a CLASSIC) as well as politically relevant movies ever made.

I could see knucklehead Carey selling himself out to do this, but not Penn Or del Toro. I could be wrong though but I just don't see it.
