The Instant Live people told Butch that is wasn't worth it in such a small venue. They depend on high volume sales which they only get playing the 10,000 plus seat venues in the summer. They aren't gonna do it if they can't make money.

It's the Beacon specifically; not the size of the venue. They do the munck music "Instant Live" discs at other small venues. I'm not sure the exact reason, perhaps the union contracts, but the Beacon charges a huge fee or royalties or something for live albums/videos recorded there and released. It's one thing for a record label release, b/c they can recoup the cost with ongoing future sales, but they can't recoup the costs on the relatively few sales of the Instant Live discs. That's also partly why Moogis only allows streaming and not downloads. At least, that's how it was explained to me. But I don't know for sure.

No matter what people say now. The shows have been captured. It will surface someway somehow in the future. Money can make anything happen.

You're right. It is because of Union Issues.

I always thought it was union issues also. Then how come we get MuleTracks when Gov't Mule plays there?

If Instant Live People can't see the value of this, they are definitely in the Wrong Business. The venue has nothing to do with it, the fans are what matters most.

In the meantime......head over to the vines and sign up - I am listening to 3/9 (I was there) and cranking the "new instrumental" - really nice aud. recording by Joe Beacon and shared in the vines. BTW, if Joe sits in Orch N, just left of the Sound Board, I sat in Row O aisle right near you and you were a super nice dude and I respect the tapers big.

Yes. THANK GOD FOR THE TAPERS....there are a bunch of Joe Beacon's tapes of the first two weeks being offered in the trades section.

I vote for the permission for ELECTRONIC DOWNLOADS OF AUD RECORDINGS...Pleeeeeaaaase!

I also don't see why they can't just put these shows on Munckmix's website for download either...that can't be too expensive???

We SO need a Beacon Box. While having tunes from this year's run would make a killer box...so would a compilation box from ALL year's the Brothers have played at the Beacon. There have been so many memorable performances over the years.

I spoke to someone from the crew on Tuesday. Union and Venue fees at the Beacon have always been too high to allow for Instant Lives'. HOWEVER, he said that might not be the case this year as the fees have already been paid to allow for MOOGIS.

Keep your fingers crossed, it might be headed to a Kid Glove website near you!

I'd buy the whole run no matter what the cost. LEGENDARY!
