I have a lot of catching up to do at work, but here's how the IN trip went.

I finally got my truck out of the shop Saturday afternoon late. I left Sunday and was lucky to make it all the way up to IN. The transfer case rebuild didn't hold up and it was doing the death rattle by the time I got to my cousin's place. I put it back in the shop up there Monday and got it back yesterday at 2:00PM. I was on the road by 2:30PM and got home this morning at 1:20AM. I made the 675 mile trip in a new personal best...less than 11 hours.

The funeral went as well as a funeral can go. It was great to see my cousins, Susan and Jenny. I hadn't seen them probably since our grandma's funeral in '98. And it's always good to see Brian and Alan, my favorite cousins. It was mostly family and folks who knew Uncle Bob from way back. Uncle Bob had a good life. He lived on this Earth for 81 years. The last three months weren't so great for him, so his passing was really a blessing. No more suffering.

While I was waiting on my truck yesterday, my Uncle Justin, who I stayed with, put me to work on the farm. Uncle Justin (Uncle Bob and my mother's oldest brother, and Brian and Alan's dad) is 85 years old and still gets up and works every day. He is quite a man. I can only hope when I am his age I am in as good of shape. It's always hard to say goodbye because we have such a heart connection. I am his sister's son and there is a lot of love between us.

Anyway, it's good to be back home. I missed my family. Looking forward to catching up on the latest Beacon shows.

What they said, Dave! I just had an unexpected clutch repair myself, so I feel your pain in that department.

You must watch the Billy Gibbons set first!!

Jon, the truck has 209K miles on it now. I need it to go along another 200K! The boss says no new trucks for a while. As long as he foots the repair bills, I'm OK with that.

Thanks....thanks....thanks.

It's all over with. Uncle Bob is resting in a plot next to my brother, Timmy, and is at the feet of his parents, my grandparents. The truck is fixed and appears to be back in good working order now. I had an amazing peace about the whole situation, losing Uncle Bob, missing Beacon, and the car troubles.

My dad always says, "Son, just remember. There are two rules to live by. Rule number 1 - Don't sweat the small stuff. Rule number 2 - It's ALL small stuff." It must have sunk in.

Back to regularly scheduled life now.
