Let me first just say the whole moogis thing is awesome, I could only dream that EC would adopt such a system for his annual Royal Albert Hall shows. As a Clapton archivist, I think I can shed a little more details analysis of EC's performance. Having over 400 clapton bootlegs, a few small changes in arrangement are definitely noteworthy.

Key to the Highway - the arrangement was very close to the LAOALS jam. He has been using the Derek and the Dominos live arrangment for the past couple of years and the I am very glad to see the original. His solos were also quoting many of the signature licks from the album. Overall: A

Dreams - You guys know much better than me but anytime EC plays a new song especially with the ABB, I am all for it. Overall : A

Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad? - Amazing interplay between Eric and Derek, lasted much longer than usual. Same Arrangement as the 2006-2007 tour with Eric playing an extra solo.
Overall A

Little Wing - all I can say is Warren Haynes...outstanding solo and vocals. Derek seemed a little off or out of tune or something. EC played an average solo at best Overall: B

Anyday - Great vocals with Susan and Warren. Solos were OK. Eric and Derek definitely were much better during the past tour. Overall B

Layla - really the biggest disappointment of the night. Arrangement was nothing special and Eric's solo was slow and boring. Derek was great as always but I hoping to see him play the Duane crying solo like on the record. I know he played it with the brothers but for some reason EC never let him play it on tour. Their is definitely room for 2 great solos in that song.
Overall - C

I would have taken any of 'em in person!

The Layla from 3-21-05 where Drek does play the crying solo is off the charts.....I was there for that one.

Yeah for sure,
taking into account the atmosphere and the circumstances, the show and an A for sure. To tell the true Layla was reenergized with the addition of Derek but since he left, it has been a little boring.

They could have easily played the arrangement with two solos ala the Tampa Dominos show with Duane. That version is definitely the best live version ever played. It was like 9 minutes long (i am guessing) and that is without the coda. I guess they could still play it again tonight??

ClapFan, welcome.

'very interested in hearing your take on tonight's show?! I thought every RAISED their game tonight..especially Mr. Clapton. Not to be a smarta$$ but it looked like he 'practiced' Dreams today....his solo was outstanding! and much more 'with' the song vs. last night. The Liz Reed was SICK.

I can't believe what we just witnessed...on my couch, no less. I also can't believe I am discussing Eric Clapton at the Beacon w/the ABB.

Carry on...thanks again, ClapFan. I want to send me a couple a hundred EC shows, feel free!!

Clapfan, Welcome to the forums. Great reviews. Please don't be shy. Now, about these 400 shows you have of EC- we have a great trading and vine community !

Seriously, speculation is wide and varying right now about where this may lead. Any opinions, insight or insider knowledge on more ABB/EC unions? The way I see it is Jack and Bruce rogered up. So did Steve. If you follow the timeline for his reunions . . .

Thanks guys, I have been reading on your site for sometime. I figured that I had to start contributing with such a monumental event..... As for the Clapton shows, I will be joining the trade community shortly and I am trying to build a large library of brothers stuff. Of particular note to the peach heads, I am especially heavy on Dominos material and the recent tour with Derek Trucks...

clapfan, here's another welcome ABBoard! I can't speak for everyone, but I am sure I speak for many. WE LOVE CLAPTON! What he did in 1970 with Duane Allman and Derek And The Dominos is one of the timeless rock and roll classic albums. To see it live on stage with The Allman Brothers Band is a real thrill. Here's to EC and the ABB. Long may they run.....and collaborate!!!

I can tell already you guys are great....I am currently in the process of generating a database of my shows. I'm sure you guys are aware of just how long it takes to get everything together. Also, I was wondering if you have a certain list of protocols for trades, vines, etc. I haven't really looked on the forum so if someone could point me in the right direction. As for slowhand6 I will definitely take you up on your offer....Thanks Again Guys

clapfan, get to know Masahiko in the trades section....he lives in Tokyo and is the biggest Clapton fan I have met. He just taped the Jeff Beck/EC shows in Saitama and has offered them up in dime and here, as well as various DVDs of EC's Japanese shows ....he usually has access to all the shows from Japan and has extensively remastered a ton of old Dominos recordiings....including the 12-1-70 Curtis Hixon Hall show from Tampa with Duane. If you haven't heard his Beta One Remaster, you haven't lived....it's WAY better than any of the other versions out there, including any of the better boots.

He is a fantastic guy and very generous. I consider it an honor to call him a friend.

And he also took me to the coolest Bootleg shops in Shinjuku, Tokyo, as well as EC's favorite restaurant there.

ClapFan...recent EC/Derek shows?

Now is maybe a good time for the short version of my 'I live in Indy but decided to go the Detroit EC/Derek show b/c it was on a Saturday and I wanted to take my father, his wife, my brother, his wife, and a friend (who drove all night last night to get to the Beacon tonite) and the only way to pull it off was on a Saturday. So, I pull out all of the stops, grab 6 tickets 5th row center...I drive....we pull into the venue at 7pm after an all day afair: 'Eric Clapton is Cancelled' on the Marquee' story.

I have yet to hear a single note from the tour. The Detroit make up show didn't have Derek and was on a Tuesday.

I've probably seen over 600 concerts on over the last 23 years and that is the ONLY one that has been cancelled on that short of notice. No problem. but did it HAVE to be the Derek w/Eric show? That's just not fair! (kinda like Dave's pisser story about not getting to NYC this week)

sorry for the pity party - it's kinda funny. not really.

I would love a shot at one of those shows. Thanks!
