My company truck was put in the shop for repairs on Tuesday, with an estimated completion date of Thursday. Thursday came and they put me off until Friday. No problem, right? I've been riding my Harley to work this week, so it's all good. I called today and they said it would be tomorrow around noon. I explained that I was going out of town and I needed it today, as my flight out of ATL was leaving at 6AM. I rode by the shop and sure as sh!t, they didn't have it back together, although they were working on it. Instead of throwing a fit and being a jerk about it, I said, "Fine, as long as you are finished with it tomorrow, because I have to go to IN for a Monday funeral." Everyone in my house is out of town this weekend and I have no cars at my disposal. It's too cold to ride the Harley up to NYC, as I hear it is snowing up there now. Plus, there was no real guarantee I'd be able to get on the flights I was booked on as I was flying standby (thanks to a kind brother) and the manifests were filling up quickly. Ad to that, I need to be back in enough time to turn around and go up to IN for my Uncle Bob's funeral, and the odds were getting stacked against me.

I am not going to be able to come up for the Saturday show after all.

I'm disappointed, but not heartbroken. I'll be at Wanee in June, I'll hit some summer dates, and I have Moogis and HTW. Thank you to the people who were going the extra mile to help me get up there and who were helping to get me a ticket to the show, and lodging, etc. I am in your debt. Maybe next time, huh? Peace out.

dave, the snow in NY this morning was just a few flurries. temps are back in the upper 40s, and mid to upper 50's are expected the rest of the weekend

Vinny, a 14-15 hour trip on a Harley in 40-50 degree temps is still pretty grueling.

I feel bad for you Dave. I had no chance of making it this year, but I was rooting for you. Thank God and Butch for Moogis.

Hey, we gave it a hell of a shot! No worries, there's other shows and stuff to look forward to this year. Y'all have a ball without me. I'm going to make the most of the evening by going to the clubhouse and having some beers. Carry on!

Dave,

Do you know if Alan or Ed still have your ticket?
As it turn out I think I could make it.

If you really wanted to do the Beacon show, you take a bus to Savannah, get a plane to ISP (Islip) it is like 10 minutes to the train in Ronkonkoma to NYC, then hop on a subway. It wouldn't be that bad.

Aww man, it ain't the end of the world. Look at the bright side. I'll be with my blood family soon. Those times are precious, even when it involves a funeral.

Dave, Sorry for your loss brother. Whatever you do be careful traveling with the weather being topsy turvy. I remember that bike ride you had a few years coming back from Chicago (?) Something about a broken collar bone and an Eat A Peach T-Shirt.

My prayers are with you man. Be good~!

I'm sure a number of us will carry your spirit with us! One less Brother in New York City...heck, the place will be empty without you.

Sorry to hear you'll be missing the Beacon, Dave. I can relate, though.
