Hey - not to take away from the new killer insrumental, which I totally dig, but it seems like it has totally taken the place of the other heavyweight 21st century instrumentals. I can sort of understand if they focused most of their rehearsal time on both the new one, and many of the other songs they have to do with the guests. But I'm sure I read in 1 of Butch's interviews that they had actually 'cleaned up' and added a bit to 'Egypt' during earlier rehearsals. At this point, 3 out of 7 nights of the new one, and none of the other 2.
Anyone else with any insight on these tunes, or lack of them?
(I luv the new one, but DO NOT want to get sick of it!)

Egypt and Instrumental Illness haven't been played since Beacon 2007, although I'm expecting Egypt to make an appearance before the run is through

Or Please Call home that was a standard song up until a few years ago.
would also love to hear Win lose or Draw or Move to the outskirts of town.

Good question.

Perhaps the New Instrumental IS the re-worked Egypt?????

My thinking is they want to break in the new song, which seems like the pattern they took with Illness, and maybe Egypt too. Two of the shows there was no long instrumental at all. I don't think this is the reworked Egypt, since they don't sound alike or have anything in common that I noticed on my one listen.

I love the new one but would also love to see a return of 'Egypt'. Would also love to see them dust off 'High Falls'. Maybe if Dickey shows up?

I LOVE "Egypt", but they haven't played it very regularly at all since 05, so I'm not surprised they haven't played it.

I think they need to keep playing the new one (which I also love) just to get it up to their standard. It's okay.

"Illness" will come back too. I'm sure if this wasn't scheduled to be the huge special guest event that it is, there would be more rotation of a lot of things... Patience.

"Egypt" & the new instrumental are not the same song.

The new instrumental has some phrasing in common w the opening section of Egypt, to my ears anyway, but it is clearly not the same piece.

EGYPT can be one of the great barn burners when they play it -- there was a Monday night in 06 where they just slayed it.

I think egypt and illness should be played more.Egypt is much better than illness,in my opinion.I think egypt could sound great if it is mixed in with whipping post.I have not heard the new instrumental yet.

"High Cost of Low Living" - another one they haven't broken out yet that I'd love to have!
