Don't get me wrong I am a huge Eric Clapton fan I have seen him numerous times, but does anybody else out there find it a little odd that the majority of the posts on this site are turning into posts on speculation that he might show up.
Even on the spare tickets forum the only tickets anybody wants are his supposed nights.
This is the Brothers 40th celebration tour not Eric Clapton's. Although seeing him would be a perk if he did happen to show up I am starting to feel that people have lost mind at who this beacon run is really for...

I don't know if anyone here has lost sight of what is so special about this run.....however, considering you've posted 8 times you probably just haven't seen the posts that pop up EVERY single year about Clapton possibly showing up. It literally happens every year this time, although now with his ties to both Derek and Duane and the fact that they're having a ton of guests, speculation is running a little overboard.

Anyway, that may clear it up.

I know there has always been rumors, this however is my first year being able to travel to the beacon and with Moogis I have been able to watch every show so I guess this is the first year i decided to dust the cobwebs off of my forum account.
Please don't get me wrong, i hope he does show up. If he doesn't i wouldn't lose sleep. Personally for me, going to the show and not expecting Buddy Guy to come out and having him there was a far better experience then going on thursday expecting Clapton to be there.
But then again just seeing the brothers Jam is more than enough to please my soul!

Kind of ironic that you started another threat about Clapton to talk about how everyone is only posting about Clapton.

Truthfully it's big news. Clapton has never played live with the ABB and it's a first time live union of two iconic figures in rock history, so it's big news.

Seeing three of the world's best guitar players in a 2800 seat venue is pretty cool in my book.

Perhaps some will want to know why Clapton would sit in with the Brothers for 2 nights.
Perhaps would wonder what the connection is. And will find out. Perhaps they will also find out that Gregg is no longer married to Cher.

The full potential of Duane and E.C playing together on those great songs off of Layla was never realized. It's all come full circle with Derek . It's that possibilty of hearing these songs from Clapton's masterpiece live in this context in small theatre is what has everyone worked up. If it doesn't happen. No worries. The ABB can tear the roof off on their own, no doubt but if it does, it will be epic.

Wow, this is a Crap thread.

I think its pretty dam cool and considerate for Eric to take time out of his own schedule to come to NYC and play with The Allman Brother and pay Tribute to Duane, which is why we have all gathered here today. After all, Eric and Duane have played together on one of Rock N Rolls most memorable recordings.

Jeez, how quickly you forget

I kinda' assumed everyone here would understand my post....
Reference was to the general public, the casual music fan. Who is well aware of Eric Clapton, but only vaguely familiar with the Allman Brothers. Usually first think of Gregg and Cher. Are unaware of Duane's substantial work to make Layla the album with which Clapton is most identified.

Hopefully, more will become aware of who Duane was, and his role in the album, through Clapton's appearance.

I have a ticket for tomorrow night, and I am really hoping Cher shows up.....although it would be nice to see Clapton. Clapton and Woman?

I sincerely and wholeheartedly hope to all that is holy that tomorrow night Cher is in Las Vegas where she belongs and that EC is in the Beacon where he belongs.

Never understood the Cher bashing as I thought Greg snagged a hottie in the day. Surf around U-tube foe some early Greg/Cher pics and you will see some smoking photos of Cher. I understand the musical differences gripe but not sure that was the driving force behind Greg's interest

No one (at least not me) denies that Cher was a hottie, although I liked her better when she had her real nose and front teeth. I am only commenting on who I would prefer to see tomorrow night.

not bashing, its just kind of funny thats all, especially since they are so different in music. she was hot, and for her age still has it. i would be so lucky to have someone that hot.

actually i would love to see if someone can photoshop Sheryl Crows face over Greggs on that album cover, so that its Sheryl and Cher.. can anyone out there help with that?
