What do you think the chances are that they would play the entire Layla and Assorted Love songs lp, like they did the AFE lp a few years back? Clapton is rumored to sit in two nights. I think it would be a memorable suprise. Derek knows all the songs from touring with EC. They could all share vocals from song to song.

what do you guys think about the chances of this? Would you be excited if that happened, or would you be upset that it would be all clapton songs for an entire set?

Would absolutely be swooning-not to be demanding but would love to also see Bobby Whitlock with EC who sat in with the DTB a week or so ago on Anyday....

Here are some possibilities besides the obvious Layla:
1) Anyday
2) 32-20 Blues
3) 44 Blues
4) Who's been talkin

I would love it, but I doubt it'll happen. Too many songs for the whole band to learn. EC is but one guest, abeit a great one, and a greatly anticipated one. Whatever we get will be fantastic!

I dont think it would be that hard -the songs are not overly technical and follow basic blues/rock format, and the hard part would be the guitars -which DT has down pat. Warren is well versed enough that he probably knows them or could pick them up in no time flat. Besides, who knows what they have been practicing, and how long they have been preparing for these shows. a set like that would be planned out in advance, and wouldnt be a last min thing to learn in a day or two. this band is a well oiled machine, who masters at improv.. i see no reason why they wouldnt be able to pull it out of their hat.

fwiw, i think tell the truth would be an awesome cover for the brothers to jam out on, and little wing could be memorable.

if he's going to be here for two nights it's going to be more than two songs a night. Derek will get the boys into shape in no time.

OK guys..
E-C-Fminor
solos-eric, then me, then warren
let's go

it's not friggin rocket science

just thinkin' out loud..."Stormy Monday" might be reeeeeallly cool with EC!

I would look for him to sit in on about 4 to 5 tunes per night....maybe more.

Two more possibles...

"Have you Ever Loved a Woman"
"Further on Up the Road"

Would like to think "Bell Bottom Blues" is a definite...

It won't happen, but anything like Jam I - Jam V would be great!

Remember, Duane did not play on the first three songs of Layla. It would seem to me the easiest song for them to do is Key to the Highway, and would really give everyone the ability to take their turn and shine. Clapton has been playing Tell the Truth (saw him with Steve Winwood) and Little Wing would really kill.
Went last Thursday and it was amazing. I'm going this Thursday and I will gladly accept anything they have to offer up, with or without Clapton. I sure hope Bobby Whitlock shows up!

posted this before on another thread, but in addition to the tunes above, a mini acoustic set with Mean Old World and Please Be With Me would be great.

??? did you hear this from someone or speculation? If its true, i will have an eargasm (or a moogasm since ill be watching it via moogis).

I know Duane didnt play on I am yours, but i think this could be a cool opener in place of LM.

If there are two nights, it could get very interesting.

At the very least, I think these four are a lock:

Why Does Love Got to be So Sad?
Layla
Key to the Highway
Anyday

They've all seen a fair amount of play in recent years. What would be the most interesting to see, IMO, is not how well the ABB does on Clapton tunes, but how well Clapton does on ABB tunes . . .

clapton did not fly to the states to sit in on 2 songs a night. i see him playing on like 5 songs a night. some D&tDs stuff and some ABB stuff.

i would guess that Key to the highway, WDLGTBSS, Stormy Monday, 44 Blues, Layla (probably saturday nite closer)
