I wonder if Jack Pearson is going to sit in... That would be great. I would think he would since he is still in such good standing with the band and has sat in for Warren and Derek in the past. Maybe 3/26... since he an ex-member... anybody know anything? I would love to see him out there for a whole show...

I'd love to see a night with Jack, Chuck, Dangerous Dan, Frankie, Johnny Neel.

Man I'll be a little sad if at least Jack & Chuck don't show up!

And of course I'll watch Jimmy Herring anytime anywhere.

Johnny & Tolers would be cool too!

But Jack and Chuck are not only my favorite ABB guys (who aren't currently in the band) but also have guested a lot with this lineup, so it seems like they should pop up!

Is there any reason you say that with so much confidence?

The short answer is that I asked him straight out if he was going and he said "No".

Thanks... Do you if there is there any reason? Was he not asked? Does he not want to? I really wanted to see him, but I had my doubts, just thinking that it's kind of a trip to play a few songs for one night...

I'm asking more out of curiousity. I understand how these things work and I don't really try to second guess anything, but I know whatever the answer is, a lot of people will speculate something negative.

I hope people aren't going to be greatly disappointed after the 26th is over, because when Butch said "no special guests" I truly believe he just meant the current encarnation of the band would be playing on the 26th. I hope I'm wrong.

No, I think you're right. I took it in the extreme literal sense. I have NO problem with that. After all these guests, I'm looking forward to a "no guest" show.

I would've just liked to see Jack & Chuck and some point in the run. But I'm not upset or losing sleep over it.

But then again, are estranged family members, upon their return, really ever “special guests” in their own home? Or are they just back where it all begins?

I hope it happens on the 26 because so many people would be happy about it, but unless they plan on touring later with Dickey, Chuck, Jack and others I'm guessing they will be classified as "special guests".

I was refering to one person in particular, not the whole family tree.

I'm afraid even that one person will still just be classified as a "special guest".

Remember, Jackie has problems travelling because of his ears. He cannot fly in a plane, due to the pressure changes. When he replaces someone for a gig or 2, they usually send a bus for him. Has to stop when going up and down mountains to let the pressure equalize.

There will be shows down the road that would require less logistics. Wanee, for instance.
That would work better for Jackie as a guest.

That’s certainly an accurate statement, however, even after nearly 9 years, and as great as the current lineup is and has been, the notion of founding member “Dickey Betts guest appearing in the Allman Brothers Band” just sounds strange to me personally. But it is what it is I guess.

Randy, thanks for your post as you got it exactly. It's along way to go for one tune. The cost of a trip to NYC would be prohibitive as the band does not pay expenses. If and when Jack is asked to be a guest or decides to just show up ( he won't without the band knowing in advance ), I'll give y'all a heads up. ( unless Jack wants it to be a surprise ). Myself, I would love it if a Ryman date showed up on the schedule "cause I know he'd be up for that.

Heck.. lets bring the whole band down to Tennessee and do a 90 minute My Old Friend > Everyday > Dreams with Jack.

Bill, I don't think that Jack has a date at 3rd and Lindsley at this time, but we're havving lunch at the Kleerview today so I'll ask. I hope that you get to catch a Jack and Stuart Dunan show. A totally different side of Jack, more in keeping with his family roots. You get to see that his playing is as much admired by the traditionalist as it is by the contemporarians. There is a Jack/Stuart show over at Etree. Worth the time.
