without Jaimoe on drums?

The Sat 3/14 show really took off when Jaimoe left.

Lately, I've noticed he hasn't been contributing much.
I actually tuned myself to the drums the last two shows and
Butch and Marc really come through but not hearing Jaimoe much.
When the camera pans to him, he's usually riding the cymbals or
adding little touches here and there.

I know he still has back issues and such, but when Lenny and the other
guy got on his kit, the music really took off. Loud and propelling along.

Yes. Adam Neussbaum (sp?) was the other guy. I have thought this same thing for a good while now, but lacked your guts to go public with it! I'm no drum expert, but I know what I like. Can you imagine Abts in Jaimoe's seat? I have.

i believe Jaimoe has a cut on his left hand...it is taped up...

Jaimoe is an amazing drummer....it took me hearing him alone, with his own band to truly appreciate what he does...

I was front row loge on Jaimoe's side last Tuesday and I thought he was kickin' it pretty well that night. Had a great vantage point.

I love Jaimoe and watch him more at shows just to pick up all the nuances he adds.

as someone else said, Jaimoes left hand is heavily taped. I saw him come in from taxi on friday nite and his hand was really taped up. He is a great drummer and I for one want him in the lineup.

Well that explains much.

And for the record, I am not putting down Jaimoe or his drumming.
Just an observation.

On Friday, the guy that sat in for Jaimoe on "Southbound" was pretty good, but seemed to be doubling a lot of what Butch was doing. It worked, since that's a powerful, freight train of a song and they had to compete with the Juke Horns. The guy that sat in on "Same Thing" seemed to be even more powerful on Jaimoe's kit, but accentuating in between Butch's playing.

Jaimoe is the man, that rhythm section really is something else. When ever I listen to one of the Dickey Betts & GS shows I have I am reminded even more of how important that is to the Allmans' sound.

I think they've been playing great both with and without Jaimoe. I love Jaimoe in the ABB and it appears to me he's been having a lot of fun with the performances but like others have said - rumor is that he's had a hand injury.

All this being said, Lenny White and Adam Nussbaum were wonderful in their respective sit-ins last Saturday!!!

I've gotten to see Abts in J's seat twice...One Way Out and Southbound. It's oh so nice. But alas, he's not a member so that is not the sound of the band.

I totally dig Jaimoe and everything he brings to the table, but when Lenny or Adam played on Sat, they definitely gave the tunes more energy - different vibes, etc. Pretty enjoyable experience.

As a drummer, I too spend lots of time listening closely to drum mix and will admit that Moogis helps as the visual and the great audio definitely show Jaimoe palying. He hits so soft to get the sound his mix must be cranked. In 2007, in Darien Lake he was highlighted in JaBuMa and got a standing ovation from the crowd, BuMa and the entire band. The man can still play, just not as long as he used to.

I lifted that quote from kdick in another thread. On the rare occasion Jaimoe does get a feature spot in JaBuMa he knocks it out of the park. I saw it at the 2007 Beacon and was thoroughly impressed. Edit, 4-2-07 Liz Reed to be exact.

Butch posted a note on Moogis that Jaimoe cut his left hand on a knife (if I am not mistaken). You can check it out in the forum section of Moogis. Butch has been pretty active on there during the run.

No, I actually am usually very disappointed when Jaimoe is not there. You can give me an audio recording and I will know right away if it's Jaimoe or not. - Although they have had good people sitting in, it's been enjoyable. But no, I think Jaimoe adds a lot...

Don't watch him, listen to him. He's adding more than you think. A lot of time it looks like he's not doing a whole lot, but when you take that out... It's a pretty huge difference.

If any one has the 8-16-94 soundboard of "Jessica" (noticed it's hard to find a lot these days, its usually not on a lot of traded copies of this) and you can compare it to the 7-1-94 version (which has Paul Riddle filling in for Jaimoe and is the one on 2nd Set) there is a HUGE difference in versions. I never understood why the issued the one without Jaimoe. I can't even listen to it, because I think the 8-16 version smokes it.
