I kind have a feeling they're going to do the entire Layla album with Clapton. Maybe over the course of two nights because he's rumored to show up for two.

Remember when they recreated the entire Fillmore East album? I wish they would do that again (with Dickey of course).

Butch mentioned in 1 of the recent interviews that they had been working on this one in some of their rehearsals.

That would be way cool. Since EC's last show in Australia, they played 6 songs from the Layla album, I wouldn't be surprised as he was just warmin' up for NYC.

Here's more from a Clapton web page:

Eric Clapton and His Band wrapped up their February and March dates at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on 10 March.

EC shuffled the set list a bit for the final night of the tour. Included were many songs from Derek and the Dominos' landmark album, Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs ("Tell The Truth," "Little Wing," "Layla," "Key To The Highway," "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad", "Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out"). Also performed were his radio-friendly hits ("Wonderful Tonight", "I Shot The Sheriff") and blues standards "Hoochie Coochie Man" and "Driftin'."

One fan told Where's Eric!, "What a concert! Eric took the Sydney show and turned it up to 12! ... The overall sound for the night was just like Sydney with Eric constantly using his mid boost for those crunchier, thicker tones. The sounds his guitar achieved tonight deserve credit in themselves."

Another wrote in, "Eric and the band were stunning. There's nothing else to say."

EC last performed at this venue in February 2007. His 2009 touring activities now go on hiatus until May when things will pick up with dates in Ireland and England.

Set List:

01. Tell The Truth
02. Key To The Highway
03. Hoochie Coochie Man
04. I Shot The Sheriff
05. Little Wing
06. Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad
07. Driftin' (EC Solo Blues)
08. Travelin' Alone
09. Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out
10. Motherless Child
11. Running On Faith
12. Motherless Children
13. Little Queen of Spades
14. Everything's Gonna Be Alright
15. Wonderful Tonight
16. Layla
17. Cocaine

Encore:
18. Crossroads

It also would be nice to see Bobby Whitlock from the Dominos join them and since he was just a guest at a recent DTB show playing Anyday, I'd say it's quite possible.

Peace.

I'm sure they will do some of the Layla stuff, but I'm not sure about the whole thing. I would think that they will definitely want to hit some blues with Slowhand. At least that is what I'm hoping for.

They def. seem to be holding the D&D tunes back for some reason..... . I see them doing a whole set with EC of D&D tunes and some of the ABB "standards" blues tunes like Statesboro and One Way Out. Would love to see/hear EC on something like Liz Reed too though. EC is at his best when pushed, and can't help but think he will be pushed like he hasn't in 10 or 20 years whilst playing with the ABB.

I requested Come In My Kitchen when we met Gregg after the show on Saturday 3/14/09. He was kind enough to say he'd bring it up. I sure hope they play it. My wife loves their version of it (as do I) but she is dying to hear it live, so I requested it for her since she was too shy to ask.

Looks like the number of special guest covers they're doing this run cut down on their time to rehearse some older songs. I'm sure they didn't forget how to play Desdemona, but if you were hoping this was finally the year they'd dust off some old gem, I'd say it's probably not going to happen.

That's fine as far as I'm concerned. I think all the good older stuff is already in the rotation. I don't want to hear them play Midnight Man, Out of the Madness of the West or Win Lose or Draw- most of those unplayed songs aren't very good.
