I was standing outside of the stage door after the opening night show, waiting to meet the band. I got lucky and had Derek, Warren, and Marc autograph my new issue of HTN, which I will always treasure. Someone else in the crowd asked Kirk if anything special was being planned for release for this Beacon run since it is the 40th anniversary of the band. His only response was, "Yeah, the Beacon Box." He was busy helping to coordinate the safe departure of the band members and their friends, family, and guests who were also exiting the stage door. Kirk was understandibly very tired and didn't have anything else to say to say after that. I'm very excited about this possibility, and since Moogis is there every night, it could very well happen. I guess he was talking about an audio release, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for a DVD. Did anyone else hear him say that? I saw in another thread where Butch mentioned something about an audio release. I was also there Tuesday night. I was completely blown away by the shows! It was well worth the drive up from the Outer Banks!

Lone Me a Dime and The Sky is Crying should be on it for sure...two of the best songs of the run so far....

The whole Buddy Guy set from the other night along with Loan Me A Dime are my picks.

sounds sweet, I'd definitely rather have an audio release than a dvd release.

Night in the City was amazing, too! Also loved the Southbound with the horns and Same Thing and Smokestack Lightning

I say a 4 CD box set along with a 3 DVD set.

I've suggested before that the DVD set have one 3 hour disc of just the current band playing, much like the last DVD they did from the Beacon. The 2nd disc be a 3 hour disc that features the band with the special guests. The 3rd disc be a documentary of the whole Beacon run with interviews with the band and the guests.

Man this is gonna be a good year! I was super stoked when Kirk made that comment! Maybe its gonna be kinda like a West's Best selection. I could only afford to drive up for those two nights and had to really work some magic to get three days off from work in a row. I'm already planning for next year though. I think I'm gonna take my week's vacation and just start saving money now and go towards the end of the run, and pack as many shows in as I can. The music of The Allman Brothers Band has really made a difference in my life and they continue to inspire me.

BTW, how many hours did it take to drive up from OBX?

I'm outta Charlotte...wondering if it's cheaper to drive or fly.

Hey Brofan it took me about 7 hrs and 45 mins and that was with one gas stop and one bathroom break. I took the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel up thru the Eastern Shore of VA to HWY 13. It was a nice scenic trip and it kept me off of 95 for the most part. The traffic wasn't bad at all until I hit the NJ Turnpike. Can you give me a tip as to how to quote other posts? I'm pretty new up here and I played around with it but wasn't sure.

Sure. Look at the person's post you want to quote - there will be a little "quote" button at the bottom. Click on that and it will bring up the whole post - if you want to just quote a portion delete the part that you don't want and keep the part you do want in between the quote brackets [ ].

Don't feel bad - I think I had been posting for 3 or 4 years here before I figured it out.

Welcome. Don't be a stranger.
