If you read JNB's post elsewhere (believe in the thread regarding the HTN party) you would see that that mark-up money is not going to HTN but to the venue. That is why they encourage you to buy online if possible.

I'll be hoping that Joe's got a good stock at the HTN party then!

Personally I don't know why anybody would buy a hoodie at an indoor show....the only time I would EVER buy one at a show is if it was outside and I forgot a jacket and was freezing to death.

Look who owns the Beacon, why would you be surprised that a kind gentle Mr. Dolan would be eager to rape, pillage, and plunder anyone who steps into the theater...

No, It's not. Unforunately, he is the Poster Child of whats wrong with those who inherit "Daddy's Money". IMO, he's garbage, short and simple.

Be safe,
John

The markup does not solely go to the promoter/venue and it would be naive to believe so. Funny how people are always ready to hang some but give the band a free pass. They complain about a Ticketmaster fee and yet say nothing about the huge cost of the actual ticket.

No problem with the band making money but they are hardly innocent in all of this. The Beacon run is a cash cow and the band does very well from all angles. Now they are even making cash nightly from people watching on a computer. Very cool idea but hardly free.

Merchandise is a huge money maker and they will get what the market allows. A couple of years ago, a shirt at Saratoga was $45. The same shirt in Toronto was $30. The Canadian dollar was trading just above .70 US. That price was cheaper than on HTW. Go figure.

I now stand corrected.

I had posted in another thread a while back that I had never known John to say a bad word about anybody.

I'll give him a pass on this one.

Sorry about that Ron. Pretty sure that he's the only one you'll see me post anything like that about. At least on this site (g) I should have posted that my feelings were only about his business style and not as a private person. I'm sure that in his family and personal life he is a good person.

If you look at the 3/12 thread in the Beacon/Moogis Forum you'll see that I did give him a positive note for the good work on the Beacons appearance and sound.

Be safe,
John
