Anyplace away from home for awhile to just kick back and experience new things. This year it will be a week+ camping in Colorado with 9 others (Rockies then San Juans). Some past faves have been Sorrento Penninsula, Capri, and Amalfi Coast in Italy; Outer Banks and Smokies in NC; Yosemite and Big Sur in CA; Yellowstone and Grand Tetons; Southern Utah (Zion, Canyonlands, Bryce, Moab); Northern AZ (Grand Canyon, Sedonia, Oak Creek Canyon); Negril Jamaica. Maine and Acadia Nat'l Park are on my LONG to do list as are Cape area on East Coast and Adirondacks. Have been talking with friends and may go back to Italy next year.

Until last yr, I had gone for the previous 9 yrs to Galax in SW VA for the Old Fiddler's Convention. We rent a house and day hike the AT, canoe and fish the New River and mtn bike the VA Creeper Trail, in addition to the music. A very relaxing part of the world, and hopefully I'll be back this August to those deep rolling hills.

Warrensburg, NY. My Vollie Fire Department has some property up in the mountains with a pond on it. It's much cooler than the Island. Fishing, hiking and yes some drinking with my fellow volunteers and their families. Good times.

Be safe,
John

London and New York City. I love that I can be overly stimulated in Times Square or Piccadilly Circus, but then go find a secluded corner in a park. Food is always a huge part of my vacations and I love trying new, unusual, and regional fare.

I haven't done very much traveling in my lifetime. I'm 45 years old, live in NY and the furthest away I have been since I was 8 years old is Toronto, Canada. Never flown on a plane even once in my life yet.

I have though done many road trips including about six to Cooperstown which is one of the nicest little towns you could ever visit. Just beautiful scenery everywhere you turn. Go in the fall in late September or early October when the leaves are changing. Check out Glimmerglass Park on the eastern bank of Otsego Lake. It is about a ten minute ride from down town Cooperstown and has a nice sandy beach on the lakefront. Breathtaking!!!

Vacationing with the little ones: Sunny Mexico, baby. Down on the Caribbean, about an hour from Cancun, not as overdeveloped, a town called Playa del Carmen.

If I'm without the kids, it would be camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains of NOrth Carolina or mountain climbing in the Olympic Peninsula off Washington State... but those trips are starting to seem kinda far away... sigh...

Bakersfield.

I like to pull out a portable chair, have an ice chest of cold beer, and watch the oil derricks go up and down.

Camping for a week in Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona, Az...followed by a week in Zion National Park, Utah. With a nights stay in Las Vegas on the way home... Shower, shave and bed. Sounds too primitive for some, but for me, Heaven.

Or I may just end up being a third wheel with Bruce and Bob down in Bakersfield. That sounds like fun.
