I remember my husband and I saw Susan in concert a few years back and she did a cover of this song and went on and on about him. She did Shelter by Ray Lamontagne. I thought wow its a pretty song. Afterwards we talked to her and she was of course a sweetheart.....she said that Ray was absolutely awesome and the best upcoming musician and that we had to listen to him. She couldn't say enough about him!
So we did a little here and there.
Then my husband started really getting into him so that got me into him. To sum it up.....I saw him in concert and OMG what an awesome and oh soooooooooo SEXY voice! That man can sing and what music he puts out. Susan you were so right......he is one of the best I've heard in a long time!
We live in Detroit and are planning on seeing him again in April!
The radio and cds are great but don't do him justice! You all have got to see him in concert to truly appreciate him.
Oh ladies........ you will love it!!! Men.....let them enjoy, you won't regret it!

I have all 3 albums and saw him a couple of weeks ago in Bristol UK. It was a really laid back concert, but I thought that on stage he lacked any personality and the set was rather short at 70 mins. No stage banter at all, he stood stage left as if he was not confident about being the centre of attraction. Great voice, great band (Doug Pettibone on guitar), but there was just something missing and it didn't work for me.

Thats too bad you feel that way, but glad you enjoyed the music. I know what you mean but I think thats just his personality. He did stay to the side and had a quiet side to him(almost similiar to Derek Trucks). He said few words but what he did say I liked. Then again I like that in a man. Few words but meaningful words! I personally don't think its a confident thing, but then again I'm a girl and may see it a little different. Your right.....great voice and great band!

I saw him in Amsterdam last week and he was excellent! I would recommend his shows every time.

Peace

Absolutely! When I saw him in the fall it was the best male vocal performance I have ever seen. I am giong to see him here in a month or so again!

His first album is an instant classic everything is golden on it. As far as writing lyrics go "Empty" is my favorite.

Love him! Have yet to see him live, but he's one of the few artists that I can listen to constantly and not get tired of.

I've never heard Ray Lamontagne live, but his father, "Roggie Ray" sings, and plays harp in the clean-up band at the Iron Horse Saloon every bikeweek, and Biketoberfest. Roggie rides a Harley down from Nashville every year. His band used to be fronted by Bear Sauls, and was called the Bear Facts Band, but now that Bear has had health problems they are called "Just the Facts Band." Just a little interesting footnote...
