He dangles the hint of possible new music being recorded after the Beacon out there.

The return of Egypt! A new instrumental by Derek & Warren!
Yes it will be rarified air next month at the Beacon Theatre big time -- really wondering what jazz types are going to sit in -- good interview

That's a great interview. It's got to be John Scofield and John Mclaughlin. But I'm sure there will be great horn players too. This should be a unique year. I just hope I get my tickets soon.

If Butch hates the studio, they should either consider recording at Derek's in a relaxed fashion or do something like the Crowes are apparently doing: recording new stuff live in front of a small audience.

Stanley Clarke is at The Blue Note on the 17th and 18th. With Butch mentioning a great bass sit-in in another interview, I would say Clarke is probably the guy.

YES YES YES!!!

That was something out of the blue for sure. GREAT news. The instrumentals are sort of an ABB tradition. Its ALWAYS good to hear of another instrumental.

Another interesting comment!

I bet that new instrumental may be based on the jam w/in Rocking Horse from Chastain 10-11. It did not seem to really fit RH, but sounded great nonetheless. Very Betts-ish (now please don't start!).

Very good interview. Need to run Moogis to see about that 1 meg upgrade.

Wonder what the 12-15 "major places" will be in summer tours after this year.
Probably: Red Rocks, Atlanta and Jones Beach for sure. I hope they include Saratoga,NY.
