With the release of their latest album, 'No Line On The Horizon', U2 has planned to embark on their first US stadium tour since their 1997 PopMart endeavor.

While no dates have been yet announced for the tour, the band has said that they're aiming to keep ticket prices unusually low, and are brainstorming an innovative setup to allow for 360-degree seating around the stage. To boot, they plan to move the stage closer to the middle of the field than in any previous stadium show.

"Itís an engineering feat that creates this real physical proximity to the crowd," Bono told Rolling Stone. The outspoken frontman also mentioned that they're trying to maximize the amount of space in each setting to accomodate all of the younger fans they've attracted this decade with songs such as "Vertigo."

"We're going outdoors to try to meet that audience. We want to play for each other as much as we want to play for the crowd this time," Bono said.

"You just donít know how long you will be going to be doing this. I just sat everyone down the other day, because some concerns about the tour had come up, and nobody wants to be away from their families. I just said,íThis is an unbelievable and rare opportunity to be in this band and to play at this level. You donít know what is around the corner, you donít know if you will be up for it or the audience will be up for it. Right now, we are perfectly riding across those two thoughts and every single night should be the best night of your life. If not, then we are just the worst of those Seventies dinosaur bands that felt it was enough to just turn up and play and that people were lucky to be in their presence."

"Innovative" setup? I saw Yes in the round in 1978. Still, a good idea to maximize the seating proximity. I wonder how low the tix will be.

I saw them back when Achtung Baby came out at Giants Stadium and thought they were great. Tried to get tickets the last couple of tours with no luck. Very tough ticket. Hopefully the tickets for a stadium tour will be priced reasonably.

I hope they come to Dallas on the tour. Maybe they'll play at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium, which is outside of Dallas in Arlington. The stadium holds close to 100,000, so I think they'd fill that place up. Hopefully if they play here, I can get tickets this time. The last 2 tours sold out fast!!!!!!!!!

That's why I paid 125 for nose bleeds.

This time I think I'll wait for the DVD at those prices.

They do put on a good show. Not sure it worth $125 for nosebleads?

Last time I seen U2 was 86 and the show was awesome. I was burning one down in the front row and Bono feel off teh stage i caught him then he took a drag and jumped back on stage. I had bought my tic that night at 6 when the box office opened (Hollywood Sportatorium - Hollywood, FL) for less than $25

I too hope they come near Memphis and stay at least beow 75 or i wont bother.

All the awesome camp jams is where the deals are

U2 to lower ticket prices

Tiscali, February 28, 2009

Irish rockers U2 have vowed to lower ticket prices to their shows - to allowed cash-strapped fans to enjoy their music during the global economic crisis.

The band are currently promoting their new album No Line On The Horizon and are planning to launch a major world tour this summer (09).

And frontman Bono admits they hope to split the prices of their tickets, giving their poorest fans a less expensive option, while more wealthy music lovers can splash their cash on the more pricey seats.

He says, "We're trying to work on some cheaper ticket prices because this is the recession. We're also going to have some very expensive ticket prices because rich people have feelings too!

"We've got something very special planned, something we've been working on for many years, a whole way of trying to do shows outdoors and make them very intimate."
