Useless thread, since I'm too lazy to give examples....

But, I was thinking about cashing in a bunch of Mastercard Reward points for 3 nights worth of hotel in NYC for the last Beacon weekend.
I went to Hotels.com first, and just plugged in a search criteria of less than $125/night and near the Theater district.
Tons of places popped up - some crazy cheap and not that interesting (like a hostel for $28/night) - but a real good selection of known and brand name hotels.
Maybe a sort of "good side" (for travelers) of our economic times.

Anyway - I'll probably cash in those Rewards points for Home Depot gift cards instead....

And...maybe when I get around to actually making a reservation, I'll be asking if folks have history on any specific places, or if you've already found a great deal to recommend...

Jim, I booked a 'family suite' at the BelleClaire which is a couple of blocks from Beacon for an average of 181 a night with taxes (a couple of nights the room was 169; 3 nights it was 189) after Rhonda told me she got her room there for 129. Just an fyi - seems like very reasonable price to me and I've read where others here have stayed there without incident.

LOL!!! Well, in my mind's eye I'm picturing no bed bugs, door locks work, roaches do not crawl over you while sleeping. For starters.

My wife and daughter just stayed in Richmond, VA at a Days Inn for $30/night.
None of the stuff on Deb's list, but feedback was not positive....

Try Kayak.com I got a great rate on 79th and Broadway. I also still have reservations at the Milburn for 3/19 - 3/21 if anyone needs them, PM me.
