Many of us have met rock stars or celebrities.

Some are the nicest people and others are totally obnoxious. Have you met a celebrity? Were they nice to you or rude?

----------------------------------------------------------
I've met a few (all are musicians).....

Nice: Don McClean, Rick Danko, Mike Love (Beach Boys), Walter Becker (Steely Dan), John Lodge & Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues. Got autographs from all of them, and had interesting conversations.

Trey Anastasio of Phish is a great guy! Mike Gordon of Phish was pretty nice too.

Rude: Davey Jones (Monkees) was an A-Hole!! I got rid of all my Monkees LPs when I got home!!
Joe Walsh didn't want to sign autographs and walked right by, but I didnt really meet him.

Elizabeth Montgomery. As real as it gets. Spent a week playing blackjack with her occasionally at Ceasars Palace, shortly after her divorce from Asher. 1975. Kept expecting her to wiggle that nose, get us some better cards.

I was in NYC one summer day with a friend. Hes a big Lou Reed fan. A limo pulls up to the curb and out steps Lou Reed! My friend and I cross the street after him. We catch up to him and my friend extends his hand and says"Hey Lou how are ya" Lou turns around and says"EFF OFF!" I was cracking up

Thats cold! I can see the expression on your friends face go from happiness and excitement to a crushing blow of hurt.

All brief conversations but I think the most cool and down to earth were : Allen Woody, Levon Helm and Dickey Betts.

Haven't had any bad experiences worth noting really.

Mule 75, I see you mentioned Leon Wilkinson. Someone I used to see around in a bar I frequented in the past who definatly was not the type to BS told me a story how when he was in high school, he ran into Leon Wilkinson in NYC before A Rossington Collins gig, Leon was cruising around in a car and drove the guy and his friends to the show. How cool is that ?

I never met Jorma but my brother always talks about the time when he was underage and couldn't get into see Jorma at the Bottom line in NYC. Jorma gets out of a 70's vintage muscle car and asks my bro and a friend what the problem is. In hearing that they couldn't get in, Jorma hands my bro his guitar case and says, follow me in......

the Bass player Tony Levin- One of the nicest, warmest, class act human beings I've ever met.

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones- all wonderful guys.

Steve Morse (guitar player for Dixie Dregs/Deep Purple)- another great guy.

The only real star I've met was Mr Haynes, at the break at the Fox in '04. Super nice; I don't need to meet any more.

Hey Brock, after the first show I watched Warrren sign autograghs and take pics (scores and scorces of people) until everyone was happy.

I'll have to say though that Gregg played the superstar role..signed two or three items, waved, got into the van and rolled off.

Graham Nash - might be one of the nicest guys on the planet let alone rock star.

Very friendly, kind and humble: Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Todd Smallie, Mike Mattison, Ron Holloway, Sonny Landreth, Robin Trower, Paul Rodgers, Jan Akkerman (not really humble but friendly) and various band members of The Palladins, Slobberbone, Honeytribe, The Tubes, Dan Baird & The Yahoos, Georgia Satellites, Molly Hatchet.

Didn't meet many rude, impatient, unfriendly celebs / musicians. The only one i met that refused signing autographs and was quickly escorted out of a club with a bodyguard was Mick Taylor.

Only rude remark i can remember (not made to me): the singer of The Tubes (Fee Waybill): a German fan attending the club show went to the merch stand and got his autograph and asked: "When are you coming back to Germany to play some shows there?" Fee answered something like "NEVER !!!, some promoter there robbed us of money that was ours. I hate friggin' Germany". The fan really looked startled and hurt.

not that i met the man but when i was about 11 or so, i caught Bill Russell on his way into madison square garden before a knicks celtics game. i was about to ask for an autograph and he literally just shoved me on my ass. I happened to be sitting about 4 rows under the basket and there was a play stoppage and I started cursing and screaming at russell from my seat. he heard me and gave me a glare that scared the hell out of me. I dont think he was a real nice guy.

have met some other nice celebrities though no rock stars!!!

I got to meet Sammy Hagar in 2002 here in Dallas at a radio convention, & he was really friendly. I got an autograph & I got my pic taken with him. I had it turned into a poster & it's hanging on my wall at home. I met Alice Cooper in 2003, & he was also real friendly. Has anyone in here ever met Eric Clapton, & if so, what's he like? I'm a huge fan & have wanted to meet him, but that hasn't happened yet.

I was in a small club on Long Island called "My Father's Place" many many years ago.
Anyhow, I'm in there with some of my buddies and in walks Keith Richards with 2 very hot ladies,
one on each arm. It almost seemed like they were helping him walk straight.
So they all walk up to the bar and Keith mumbles something, and out comes a full bottle of Jack Daniels with a shot glass for Keith. The bottle stayed.
My friend Billy says he has to go up and say something to Keith.

[I have to add this - (Billy is a good guitarist) and his brother
John who wasn't with us was the biggest Stones fanatic I ever met.]

So Billy walks up to Keith and says "Excuse me, are you who I think you are?"
Keith gives Billy that famous wasted grin and tilts his head to one side and says all slurry " I don't know, ask her" and he starts off laughing as he's pointing to one of the girls.
It was pretty surreal and needless to say Billy's brother John was pretty pissed off when he found out that we saw Keith and he wasn't there.

Dale Murphy back-to-back NL MVP for the Atlanta Braves. My job brought me into contact with him during the time he was a superstar and he was soooo incredibly nice, kind, interested, etc., etc, I cant' begin to tell you.
