Has anyone in here seen the Dave Matthews Band in concert? They're coming to Dallas on May 2, & I'm thinking about getting tickets to the show if I can. I haven't had a chance to see them yet, & I've heard that they always put on a great live show. I like the music, but haven't seen the live show yet.

They had been on the top of my must see list for some time. I saw them last summer and was not disappointed, a GREAT live show. The fans were like a young Jimmy Buffet crowd, so just be prepared for that element and you'll really enjoy yourself. GO!

I'm not really a fan of their music, but since the ABB opened for them in 9-07, I hung around to see what all the fuss was about. I actually enjoyed it, and their use of video and lights adds to it. If you like the music, you should love the show.

Many people love to bash DMB but I have seen them several times and enjoyed the shows. The crowd can be the Jimmy Buffet and Frat guy thing but I am there for the music and they are great musicians.

Well worth seeing if you have not. You will dance your shoes off.

i heard them and they put on a very good show., the issue is the crowd-very very young and alot of noise and everyone is moving around and not listening to the music. someone said a young jimmy buffett crowd, i think that is fairly accurate IMO

I was never a huge fan of the Dave Matthews Band, but in 2003 my friend dragged me to a
sold out DMB show in Hartford, and it was an eye-opener. The love between Dave and the
crowd was very evident. It was good to see what the fuss was all about. Very entertaining and
good musicians (especially Carter, their drummer). Also saw Dave with Tim Reynolds at
Farm Aid last year. He put on a good set. Again, I don't own any DMB music, but the 2 times
I saw him I was impressed.

A few times and have enjoyed every show. Am planning to see them again later this year (Sept) when they play the ballpark here in my town. Robert Randolph Band will be opening for them at that show.

Lucky!! I think RRFB puts on the best show going right now. They are out of sight!

Haven't seen DMB. The stories I've heard about the crowd keep me away. I probably will one of these days though as I really enjoy the music. And yes, Carter Buford (sp?) is possibly the sickest drummer alive.

Carter does rock. If you like their music they are great live, the crowd is very obnoxious though.

I have seen DMB many times and the most recent here in Memphis this past year (08) They are an excellent live band and a show has never been shorter than 2 1/2 hours.

The band is real tight... only one show I was at in Salt Lake City two yrs ago Dave decided to go on a politcal rant since the pres was in town and that turned me off.

Other wise if you havent seen DMB defintely make it a priorty you cant go wrong musically.

Don't worry about the crowd. I was in a throng of 50k+ DMB fans at Piedmont Park, and had zero problems and actually some good conversations w/ a few of them (had on my ABB tshirt). As others have said, it's usually good for the experience when fans are devoted like Dave's are. Attractive young women seem especially drawn to the DMB shows; this is not a bad thing!

Edit, I just posted a spare DMB pr for Atlanta 4-29 in the spare tix forum. Good seats.

I've heard a few bootlegs from the past year or so and
think he is on top of his game
and fell that he's really evolved as a musician, whereas he was not able to really bear the weight as a jamband when he started, he has now cut out a niche for himself
pretty cool

ya man,
I've see him a bunch of times. Twice last year. He gets the crowd involved, and leaves it all on the stage. It's awesome when he scats. I totally can't understand anything he says. I have a few live bootlegs and he goes off. It's good dance'n music. Hot chicks. Only thing is lots of drunk young people. Besides that, I would see them anytime. Good stuff!!!
