I saw the ABB my first show in 1975. Muddy Waters opened and came out and did one song with the ABB.

I was 15 and 7 of us piled into my friend's Vega and headed for the stadium. Redbud had just hit the market and they had an airplane crashing into the stage. It all made quite the impression.....

Brock, I was at this show. Wasn't the airplane on fire? We were in the nosebleeds close to where the plane took off.
My earliest recollections of live music was Piedmont Park ABB days. I hung around an older crowd. Municipal Auditorium,Atl., ABB, summer of 1971 was fantastic.

^I don't remember if it was on fire or not. I'm thinking not. I do recall the baseball tarp group shelter on the field when it rained before the show started. That was unreal!

Jethro Tull, Chicago Stadium, '72, I think.....Thick As A Brick just came out and they played it for like an hour and a half. Or something. I was 15.

Wild Turkey (Tull offshoot band with Glenn Cornick on bass and Clive Bunker, who was one of the best drummers in rock at the time) opened. I remember they were pretty good.

Hank Jr. I was 8 or 9. 9th row dead center. Fell asleep by the end. I was 8 or 9.

Than at 12 my brother took me to Clapton, 5th row dead center at Market Square. Journeyman tour. Great show. Wish I was old enough to appreciate it more.

Alice Cooper with Flo and Eddie opening.Cooper was doing the Killer/Billion Dollar Babies Tour. It was a trip to see him with the Boa, guillotine, and also singing "Dead Babies".

I'm remember when the show started with :

Alice Cooper - "Hello Hooray"1973
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8YpOM7LVew&feature=related

Flo and Eddie (The Turtles. The Mothers of Invention) were good also.

A week later I saw :

The Doobie Brothers with Loggins and Messina opening at Municpal Auduitorium.

Kansas w/ Sniff n The Tears opening up in Nov '1979 at the Hollywood Sportatorium.
Kansas was on the Monolith Tour, and S&tT's had a minor hit with "Driver's Seat".
I just dug the whole atmosphere, and when the bands came on, especially Kansas, there was a lot of excitement, they played great, and afterwards I thought going to shows was just about the coolest thing you could do. I was instantly hooked.

I came, I saw, and I even bought the $5 bootleg Kansas shirt in the parking lot after the show,,,,

When I was 12 I saw Beatlemania with my mom, her friend, and her friend's teenage son who was about excited as I was to be there.

The following year I saw Rush on the Moving Pictures tour as part of my 13th birthday present. Still love that album. The last of their good ones, IMO.

DOUBLE WOW!!
Man, am I envious.

My first rock concert:
I was an impressionable wee lad of 16 in 1992. My Uncle Greg was in a band that opened a few shows on the Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Tour in 1987. He got to be really good friends with Skynyrd's tour mgr and whenever they came to town, my Unc got back stage passes and hung out with the tour manager at the band's hotel pre and post show. He took my to my first rock show at The Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Aberdeen, MD to see Skynyrd in all their reunited glory. It was pouring rain and there was talk that the show may be cancelled. The band played through the rain and put on a hell of a show. (They were still a great band at the time. Ed King, Leon, Billy rockin'. Johnny VZ still had some pipes at the time.) The crowd was almost as entertaining as the music, lots of wasted, soaking wet biker chicks getting their t*tt*es out. GREAT MEMORY. I've been a concert junkie ever since.
