Talking to Brother Mule in another thread, and this came up a bit, slide playing.

Besides Allman/Trucks, who are some of everyones favorites out there?

I really enjoy Billy Gibbons playing (uses the slide on his middle finger) on "Just Got Paid", as well as the late Rod "The Bottle" Price of Foghat, Sonny Landreth, and Eric Sardinas. Bonnie Raitt has a great tone, imo. And I enjoy David Gilmour's work on the lap steel.

Anyone ever seen that video (my memory is really failing me here) not sure if it is a Zep or Jimmy Page solo ... but he is in a dark bar and is sliding away using a Heineken bottle, sloshing beer all over the place....

before Duane it started and ended with Mr. Elmore James. Not on Duane's level as a guitarist; put put it together with unbelievable vocals and you have one of the great Bluesmen of all time!!!!

Dave Hole is pretty darn good. His tone can be a little harsh at times, but he plays some good, high intensity blues.

Joe Bonamassa can play some good slide, too.

The slide work on Clapton's Me and Mr. Johnson is superb.

Dickey Betts played some nice slide after Duane died; still does when he wants to.
