Damn.

A little over a year ago my wife, daughter and then four year old daughter welcomed two awesome little kittens to our household.

One of them has chronic feline pancreatitis and at the ripe old age of almost two, poor little guy has to move on to the next world, taking him back to the vet for the last time in the morning.

Such a great little guy. Didn't think I'd have to have the pet death discussion with our daughter at age 5, but, damn. Tonight should be great...

Here's a site called "The Rainbow Bridge" it'll help you alot in dealing with your child regarding a pet's death, and it ain't too bad for helping adults deal either.

http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbowb.htm
click on the link below the story, and it'll have alot of different ideas for getting through this.

Sorry for the loss of your familiy's pet and companion, its a shi**y deal for sure.

Sorry about your kitty, BHawk ... it's tough loosing a beloved pet. Good luck to you in explaining this sad fact of life to your daughter...EFUS has a good idea in the Rainbow Bridge site (that poem always chokes me up, too, but it is positive in it's portrayal of life everlasting)

I was and still am missing my cat so bad but I was lucky to have him 20 years. My neice is having a very hard time as it's her first experience with this type of situation. Prayers and the best of luck with this, my heart goes out to you...

That really sucks. Very sorry for what you are going through. Our family cat Newt died five months ago and I'm just getting ready to adopt a cat for my heartbroken mother. This was the first stretch of time since 1970 that we haven't had at least one cat in the house. I'm going to adopt a young cat from a shelter.

So sorry about your kitty. I lost my last two ferrets within a few months of each other.
They were old for ferrets at almost eight years. Two years ago and I miss them terribly.
I wish you the best in this situation.

Tough deal Jerry, especially with a young child to explain it to also. Sometimes life's lessons come early.....

When my goddaughter was 3 we had to have her kitten put to sleep. It was terrible.

My sympathies.
