I was wondering if they would play the whole thing or just part of it with Eric.I would really like to see them play it start to finish.

What do you guys think?

I doubt that EC will play an entire show with the ABB and since it isn't an ABB album I don't think they will play it from start to finish. They have too big of a back catalogue to cover to devote to one record.

It would be cool if they did, though.

Wasn't Layla a double album? He's supposedly coming for two nights, the 19th and 20th. It could be done. I bet Chuck plays when Clapton does.

Yeah, they could do it over 2 nghts...but even Clapton doesn't play some of tose tunes anymore.

Like somebody else said, I'd like to hear EC play on some ABB tunes, like OWO, YDLM and Whippin' Post.

BigDave, where did you hear this? I haven't really been around this forum much lately so sorry if it's something that's already been discussed. Just curious tho, got tix for 20th and 21st. Thanks!

I doubt if EC will play an entire show with the Bros or that ABB would do a show recreating another artist's recording in entirety...can't recall them ever doing that in past. I would see it more as EC jamming on some ABB tunes and maybe the band covering some D&D stuff with Eric sitting in. Agree that an EC/Chuck sit-in on Layla would be sublime.

What about the songs Duane didn't play on? Can't see them playing the entire record. I could better see EC come out and play an entire second set with the ABB playing maybe half of LAOALS as well as some ABB/blues standards. I'd love to hear him tackle some of the jazzier ABB instrumentals. EC is at his best when he's pushed to his capabilities.

Last time EC did his Antigua benefit blues thing, I believe he said that playing with Derek (and Doyle) it kind of forces him to want to push himeself to his maximum capabilities.
With the ABB, you'd expect him to push himself. Not really a choice there. Either go for it or why be on stage at all?

I can't see Warren putting up with any slackers on stage, EC or no EC...

I think they will play all the Domino tunes they already do with EC. Layla, Anyday, and Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad. After that they will probably hit some blues stuff which will be some treat for those attending and watching on Moogis.

I thought I read somewhere that Chuck had some issues with Eric after the Unplugged stuff ? It had to do with compansation if I recall correctly.

That's right. He had nothing good to say about EC and even less about Roger Forrester, EC's manager at the time. They basically had a gentleman's agreement (handshake) that if Unplugged sold, that Chuck would be taken care of. When it did and Chuck reminded Forrester of their agreement, Forrester told Chuck to go Eff himself. Clapton didn't step up to the plate to take care of his "hired help" and Chuck was never asked to play with EC again. It's all in Chuck's book, Between A Rock And A Hard Place.

Chuck didn't say a negative word about anyone in the entire book-he is a true Southern gentleman (I know because I met him after a NSOGM show in Chicago) but he didn't have anything good to say about Clapton in his book.

I don't see Chuck and EC sharing a stage anytime soon.

Might they do a melody of a few songs one into another rather than taking all the Dominoes songs start to finish then do Layla as an encore?
