Review from the Paul Simon show the other night at the newly restored Beacon Theater from the Newark Star-Ledger by Jay Lustig (a good music critic). Link to full review below, but heres an excerpt from the review mentioning the ABB.

Simon opened the show with two of the rhythmically propulsive "Graceland" songs: "Gumboots" and "The Boy In the Bubble." After a laid-back "Slip Slidin' Away," he asked for the theater's house lights to be turned on, and pronounced the restored venue "a gift to New York City." He also joked that some of the figures on the rediscovered neo-classical murals were, in fact, The Allman Brothers Band. (The group traditionally presents a long stand at the Beacon every Spring.)

His sense of humor is as good as his music.

that's classic. it's also cool that even the biggest stars recognize that the brothers rule the beacon.

Great article and love the ABB Beacon reference! Paul is a hoot! Would have loved to see him at Beacon - the times I've seen him he has put on excellent shows (in fact - believe one of those times he and ABB were both on the bill at an outdoor day-fest )

I saw Paul Simon on the Graceland tour. Easily one of the top 10 shows I've ever seen!

Paul has some ABB connections: he recorded in Muscle Shoals and one of his most often used musicians is Pete Carr (Hourglass). Paul Simon is one of the most prolific writers in music history!
