More Details About Clapton Joining Allman Brothers at Beacon!!!
February 13, 2009 1:14 PM
We told you first right here in the Smoking Section that the Allman Brothers' epic 2009 stand at New York's Beacon Theater will serve as a tribute late guitar wizard Duane "Skydog" Allman. The fifteen dates in Manhattan -- between March 9th and March 28th -- will also celebrate the Allman's 40th anniversary, and marks 20 years since they began ripping **** up at the Beacon.

Some of you didn't believe us when we said that Eric Clapton would be sitting in with the Allmans on select nights. You folks can suck it! Clapton WILL appear at two shows -- on March 19th and 20th!!!

We also predicted that Dickey Betts would return to join his former band, a claim that the Allmans' manager called "patently false."

We're sticking with our prediction! Why not!

And whether or not you catch a Clapton night, each and every one of the shows are going to be sick!!!

Some jerk from RS says its so. Doesn't seem to reliable. But I think EC will show, just a feeling. I hope I see it live. But I will see on Moogis otherwise.
How about that story with Metallica? Thats some crazy stuff. A cop peeing on someone at a show and then harrasing people while exposed? Woah! That cop must have been drunk. Crazy!

If you check Stub-Hub and the like they are obviously believing the rumors. Ticket prices are sky high both nights.

He has rescheduled his 11 March show in Melbourne, Australia (just in case there is a Mebourne, Florida!) for 10 March due to "a touring change"!

Maybe Eric and Dickie will just jam with each other on the 26th and compete with the Beacon

Indeed; I would say this qualifies as "sky high," from eBay:

For 3/20:

* The price $13,392.00 is for 4 tickets in Section: ORCH CTR Row: CC.
* All of the seats are together
* Note: 3rd Row Center Orchestra. TICKET FAST

We are all hoping that Dickey will show ... I think there have been more than enough threads on that issue ...

As for Dan / Frankie Toler and David Goldflies ... whilst they would be most welcome additions as ex-members of the band, they were in the band long after Duane had passed so I don't see how they figure in what is billed as a tribute to Duane run

It is also debatable whether Dan Toler left GS on good terms or not-if not I doubt he will be there if Dickey shows. Frankie just had a liver transplant so I guess it would depend on how his health is.

I believe Clapton is a shoe in to show BUT the "smoking Section" column in RS is a gossip column.

Question, does anyone know if that writter is Boz Scaggs son? I read that on the Philzone once. As I say that I am asking myself why am I asking the question.LOL!

I didn't realize the Beacon run was only a Duane tribute?I thought it was a celebration of the 40 year history of the ABB.What does Danny have to do with GS as far as the ABB and the Beacon run? I talked to both Danny and Frankie last night, and the fact is.....neither have been asked to play.Even with the new liver Frankie is playing with Michael and Tony on 2/27,so I'm sure he could sit in for a song with the band he used to tour with!

The quote from the man tonight is "people who played with my brother". So that would delete alot of all of those you wish. You will be surprised at some who will come.

EC may very well play with the ABB on the 19th and/or 20th.

But I would hardly say that a "blog" is the defining word.

Only 2 camps can Officially confirm when Clapton will play with the ABB and that is the ABB or Clapton. To my knowledge neither has confirmed those days.

I think the title of this thread is misleading..........

Sounds like someone got caught with too many tickets for the 19th and 20th, and is now trying to move them.

I wonder what'll happen if EC doesn't show on the 19th and 20th, and some folks laid out top dollar for those nights because of what this guy wrote?

We'll see what happens....

(Sorry for turning this thread to the darkside...)
