Finally, a NW show!! I was going to go down to Shoreline to catch the Dead, but I'm bagging that and hitting the Gorge. For those who haven't been, it's pretty great place to see a show!! ____________________ "The only funeral you should ever try to interrupt is your own, and that should be a full-time job." -Kinkstah |

Not at all sure how the Doobies even fit in with the Brothers or the Dead. I never even remotely considered they would be a fit. ____________________ "Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all". I dunno...I think the Doobie Bros would be a really good fit as an opening act.
I saw them a few years ago open for Skynyrd at the Greek Theatre in LA, to me, they stole the show (mainly due to their house sound...it was crystal clear; Skynyrd's was really muddy & overly distorted)

That makes more sense to me since they both are pretty similar. Several radio hits, Same setlist, not much improvisation. ____________________ "Capitalism is the extraordinary belief that the nastiest of men for the nastiest of motives will somehow work for the benefit of all". OK, who wants to help out the first timers? Where is the best place to fly into and local places to stay?

i'll say it again, the economy is going to dictate where and who
the Bros. play with this summer. yes, they almost fill sheds in the
N.E. but other parts of the country sans N.C. and Hot 'Lanta,
they have trouble doing so. This summer will be worse. ABB touring
with Widespread, Black Crowes, the Dead, and to a lesser extent
even bands like the Doobies, or Steve Miller Band, will help fill
in the seats in the larger venues. I look for this to happen if
it not too late for the bands managment to respond to the
current economy? Otherwise I think smaller venues would make
way more CENTS!! |

The DTB opened for the Doobies back around 1999 in Saratoga,CA. Derek jammed with the Doobie Bros for a couple of tunes. He was great of course. |
