Funny stuff. It seems that Joaquin is going in some kind of Andy Kauffman direction with this alternate drugged out persona. Or perhaps he's on some great drugs.

What a loser. I saw this the other night, Dave responded well ( that's why he's the best). I'm not sure that Phoenix was playing around after what happened on the red carpet last year where he asked the reporter "do I have frogs comming out of my head" or something like that. My feeling is: he was gooned on the juice.

Anyway, he's a good actor who I've lost all respect for as a person. Charles Grodon is the only person who is allowed to act that way with Dave.

how can one lose respect for someone as a person when you don't Know him or have any personal relationship with.

he's just a actor,, maybe he was acting?

If this is not some kind of publicity stunt, then I think Joaquin has lost his mind. Just because he played Johnny Cash doesn't mean he just hip hop into a music career. I saw some Youtubes of his "music" and he couldn't even manage to stay upright on the stage. What a bonehead.

I remember hearing that he was leaving his acting career for a music career, but if this is what happens to ya, geez, you can have it!

He's bloody gone off his rocker!

I'll wager, unless there's some sort of intervention, he'll wind up like his brother, Rivers. What a great talent....wasted to drugs. And IIRC, in one of River's last movies, he played a musician.

He's no Hunter S. Thompson, that's for sure...

Hunter could take twice as many drugs and still be far more lucid not to mention deliberately self depreciatingly witty.

To paraphrase Hunter: "The hard core drug culture is NOT for amateurs."

Sadly, that clip is your proof......

Tho't it was a 'gag' at first....then became clear it wasn't. Dave seemed actually pissed for a moment but finally went with it. Unless it comes out that he was putting on....this guy has gone bonkers.

HOWEVER.....I can't wait for the Chris Elliott parody on Dave!!!! Wait till he comes out and uses that for a template....now THAT will be hysterical!!!!

One of the more bizarre interviews I've ever seen.

Hard to believe it was real. At some moments he seemed too with it to be so fried out all the rest of the time.

If true then that is pretty sad. What time is Letterman filmed? Sometime around noon or early afternoon I believe.
