Ok, everyone thinks that this is the year EC will play. I will be there the 20th and 21st. Any one want to guess the date? (Hint his birthday is the 30th)

Instead of wondering whether EC will paly with the ABB, what night he will show, etc., why not just go see him play with his own band. Do you only like him if he shows at the Beacon?

I like Eric Clapton period and would go see him if he were playing somewhere nearby. Why - do you have information about some US tour?

Ahh, no offense intended here, but this is a clueless post. Maybe folks are interested in this particular Clapton appearance because it is likely to be a ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT, Eric Clapton performing Layla tunes with The Allman Brothers Band at THE BEACON THEATRE!! It wouldn't exactly be like catching a Clapton show from the rafters of MSG or the like.

Think before you type.

If I can ever get my computer hooked up to my TV, it won't matter what date it is, I'll get to see it.

I'm hoping for a full set of all the Dominoes songs that Duane played on. I'm sure that's probably asking for too much.

Doubtful, dude. The speculation about when Clapton will show started way before the 40th anniversary. I'd say you're clueless.

Well, someone who knows a bit about the subject has indicated that this will be happening. Why does the speculation bother you so?

Neither your original post, nor your response to mine, make any sense. If you are an ABB fan, and you can't see the significance of EC sitting-in with the band at The Beacon on Layla tunes, you need to have your head checked.

My point quite simply, is that there has been speculation for years about EC showing up at the Beacon. It happens all the time. The ABB played Layla in 2006 and everyone was speculating that EC was showing up, and he did not. The same thing is happening now. Maybe you cant read, but I never said it was not a significant event, I am simply tired of reading about whether"you know who" will be showing up at the Beacon. Gregg said he was invited and EC told him he would be there in so many words.

Caught EC's show last year and it will be my last. I always seam to leave unsatisfied. He didn't play one cream song, no cocaine, and there several others that were passed by. Doyle sat in with him which was ok. The only way I will see Clapton again is if Derek Trucks is playing with him.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, that once the rumors fly about EC at the Beacon, so does the EC bashing....

Hoping for a Whitlock/Clapton double. On MY birthday!

Moving on, who do you think will show up at Lefty's gig? Derek? Susan? Otiel? Dickey?
Bluedad?

This year will likely be different.

All I will say.

Actually I will say that Chuckels has never steered anyone wrong on here.

Doubt if anyone knows the answer. And if they do, they are not talking.

No matter who shows up when, let's make sure there's some sort of argument in every Beacon thread from here on out.

You know, for consistency's sake...

Before this year, there has never been an inkling, from anyone associated with the band, that EC was going to be appearing at The Beacon, only fan speculation. Since '06, Derek Trucks has been a featured performer in Clapton's band. I think they know each other pretty well, another pretty HUGE link between Clapton and the current lineup of the ABB. Gregg has been quoted as saying Clapton told him he'd do "whatever it takes" to be part of the Beacon run this year. Butch Trucks has more than hinted at an EC appearance in his Moogis interview. I think the "rumours" have a lot more weight this year. I would go as far as to speculate that the Clapton appearance may be a big part of the reason to dedicate the run to Duane's memory.

Don't know if I could find out the dates, but I can find out the invitees if I want. And probably who has accepted. Maybe even which days. Sat. night. From someone who has been to rehearsals. But I've already asked him not to tell me anything.

I'm quite sure others here have the same and better info. But my question remains, why would you want to know? Christmas is no big deal if you already know what you're getting. It's a box of chocolates. Take what you get, enjoy the surprise for what it's worth.

And if you find out, please don't tell. I don't want to have a clue. Just take what I get, take whatever show I get, whatever setlist, take it for what it's worth, enjoy being alive.

Then go to Lefty's gig. With the guys from Gadsden playing. Talk about, "It's all good..."

Disagree with this entirely. Find it ludicrous that they would use a possible guest appearance by EC as reason to honor Duane ... believe it's the other way around. Definitely think that dedicating the run to Duane is entirely due to the 40th anniversary. And agree that despite the annual speculation re: EC appearance that it is likely this will be the year because it's the ABB's 40th and EC is honoring them and his former band-mate from D&D as well as new relationship that's been forged between EC and a certain young guitar slinger.
