A group of people are attempting to put together Summer Jam 09 at Watkins Glen. The Dead, Allman Brothers, The Band. Who's down?

Yeah right. I gotta laugh at that.

In fact, ALL OF US are laughing

Never gonna happen again. Try getting The Band, that's impossibility #1.

If I could have been at any one historical musical festival / event in my life, it have been Watkins Glen. The 3 greatest bands in the world together...

And a bunch of punks who don't care about music will start bonfires and burn the place down. Remember Woodstock's 30th anniversary or whatever that was.

The legacy of Watkins Glen is in the music which can't be repeated.

RIP

Jerry Garcia
Rick Danko
Richard Manuel
Keith Godchaux
Lamar Williams

and the skydiver who died engulfed in flames and found in the woods nearby.

You speak the truth, & I know about 599,999 who would agree

I'd like to revisit the area someday though -- wouldn't be too hard to find the main field where the stage was & meander around that scenic countryside...

True dat....

But I have to admit, it was my exact same thought when I realized (last year) that this year was the 40th.

40th? Watkins Glen Summer Jam took place in 1973.
Prob'ly thinking Woodstock?

You know although a Watkins Glen anniversary concert can't happen due to the Band not being around, the Dead and the ABB did actually get together for a show at The Gorge, in Washington State. Back in 2004. That was the closest to a Watkins Glen reunion show.

And I had the pleasure of being there..Was jammin' to the ABB, turned around, and ran right into the chest of Bill Walton..It was cool..Met him at a Dead show in Portland in '77..For those of you who haven't been to or heard of The Gorge, it is a great place to see a show..As spectacular as Red Rocks, imho..

The last I heard Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm did not get along too well. I can't imagine those two on stage again.

Hey it prolly won't happen, but why all the negativity? I heard last year they ere thnking about trying to get Phil and Friends, ABB and Levon Helm for a show at Watkins.

Obv they would be lucky to draw 15-20,000 people, maybe more. Doubt if there would be any riots or burnings.

One thing Watkins Glen would have going for it would be the fact that everyone would have equal access to buy tickets to see the bands they love, unlike the joke that Beacon Ticketing and Phish Ticketing were this year.

All I am saying is, Give Peach A Chance!

It just wouldn't be The Band without Danko & Manuel. Plus when was the last time Robertson played with Levon?
