I'm not a big Phish fan, and this is the only one that I own. That being said, it's a good set. Covering the Beatles' White Album in its entirety is wild enough, but the rest of the material is cool a well.

some of this repeats posts above:

12/31/95
3 disc set released a couple years ago
some say it's their best show ever

If you're gonna d/l shows from livephish.com, get one or 2 from different eras to see what you like. I would recommend 5/8/93 or anything from 8/93, 6/22/94, 12/01/95, 12/06/96, and 12/29/97 and the island tour (4/2-5/98. If your're gonna get one then 4/3) to start with.
then of course, there are always a ton of shows on bt.etree for d/l

oh - and you can check out week4paug.net for more info

Jambase's forum have a lot of phish phans, but you may catch some slack from people being a "noob" (because they have never been one).
http://www.jambase.com/Forums/

nugs.net has a bunch of their shows for free, i cant tell you which ones are the best

I hope they release a new album this year as the tour approaches. I really like their recent studio albums, as their songwriting and instrumental prowess has improved.......:0)

STORY OF THE GHOST
FARMHOUSE
ROUND ROOM
UNDERMIND
--------------------------------------

the shoulder that I leaned on was carved out of stone
but when I'm done freezing I want to be alone

never want my hand cut off
never want a hacking cough
never need a cliffside push
never turn my brain to mush

always give me what I lack
always take the best parts back
always recognize your fate
always just a moment late

left is where I always turn
left is how I'm forced to learn
left the route my walking takes
left alone with my mistakes

up against the person who
up 'til now I never knew
up from hell the answer blew
up or down it's up to you

drop me off the Chinese wall
and peel my fingers off the rim
I come unglued while in midair and land to reform
limb by limb

and I am taken far away...

lingering slowly melting away
tossed with the salad and baled with the hay
pooling the water that drips from above
trampled by lambs pecked by the dove

SS&P is awesome!

I think Undermind is a pretty terrible studio album though.

I still have some affection for Undermind since it was their "Farewell" CD (until now of course).
On some of the tracks Phish sound like they're out of gas, but there's also some cool tracks on there.
I like the bonus DVD that came with it, which documented the making of Undermind.

Call me crazy, but lots of their lyrics are like this and they remind me of a bad trip!

I believe Brother Duane and Gregg's comments about the Hourglass records also apply to Phish. Stick the record between two pieces of bread and you've got a **** sandwich. I've always felt they were unlistenable. Some talent there, but nothing happening

All of their studio albums are ok, but I would just go with the live shows. To me Phish is one of those bands whose music goes over just so much better live.
