With this special year of shows ahead of us, I would like to see every show as an evening with but i think a good opener for this tour would be Marshall Tucker. I know Doug doesn't have the voice he used to but it still would be great to see it happen. Who else would you like to see open for the brothers this year?

I'm with ya. NO OPENERS. An Evening with THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe let Warren pull some double duty some of the dates w/ Mule, just a wish, know it won't happen.

Or have Derek cover the opening slot, again just a wish.

The drive by truckers were a sick opening act a year or so ago, Grace Potter is always good, Mofro wouldn't be too shabby.................

An evening with would be best.

If there has to be an opener, let it be someone like Mofro or Michael Franti.

I'd prefer "an evening with ...". It'd be real cool to see the Capricorn Rhythm Section open a few shows. Some great opportunities for cross-band jammage there!

IMHO I'd prefer "An Evening With" any day of the week over an opening act. Especially this year....

I agree "An Evening With" would be my first choice.

I'll have to throw in a vote for Mofro as well...if not then the Mule would always be a fine choice

Another vote for an "Evening with".

My second choice would be Susan & her band. That way she can join in with the Brothers.

Put me down for "Evening With" too.

But if they insist on having openers, I'd like to see/hear either Jeff Beck or some of the (remaining living) old blues guys. I'd prefer not to have some of the latest generation jambanders.

It was very painful listening to Marshall Tucker last year ... I dont think Marshall Tucker would be good . Back in the day they were awesome but not a good idea...

Evenings with at the Fox Theatre, four nights, would be my first choice. But at a shed, 2.5 hrs of the ABB would not be better than 2 hrs of ABB and 2hrs of someone else good. Like Bonnie Raitt.

It was my understanding from the interview with Gregg that the year would be a tribute to Duane, and that there would be an effort made to get everybody that played with Duane involved during the year. Not just at the Beacon.

Personally, I like this concept. And whether the guests appear as opening acts or special guests doesn't matter. I would think it would be some of each.

Evening With would be my preference. but I wouldn't mind a one hour set by Ray Lamontagne.

I like an opening act so long as they don't cut into the usual 2.5 hour show length of the Allman Brothers.

After last fall, I think I would rather have a smaller (one hour band) open or none at all, so that we get three hours of Allman Brothers Band greatness. I have seen them in different configurations and the best is when it is just them. IMO.

Here's my vote

Ladies and gentlemen from Macon, Georgia, with a little Red Hot Chicken, The Wet Willie Band.

The second best intro (next to Bill Graham's OK, the Allman Brothers Band), from the second best live album ever (Drippin' Wet) from the second great Capricorn band. Let Jimmy and the boys open like they did in "73.

Second choice would be for Dr. John to open like he did in '72

taking the current economic conditions in the US, et al, into consideration
i think the band may be rethinking their summer tour plans. to be smart about
it, i think they should. to my disappointment, they have never filled the sheds anywhere with the exception of boston...? ? ok, the sheds may be full, at the N.E. shows, the lawn is not anywhere close in most venues. they toured with ratdog last year for economic reasons. obviously they help fill-out the sheds. and they co-billed to keep their portion of the show to two hours. i think they will co-bill with someone again this
summer due to the age of the band members if they are planning an "extended"(longer
than 20 dates this summer)tour. how about a black crowes/ABB tour!! i also guess they will stay away from the sheds in some markets and go to a theater setting because even
with a band the caliber of the crowes if will still be difficult to fill sheds. unless the venues
make tons of money on beer and hot dogs and the band makes enough $ in the sale
of merchandise, i don't see that a mega, shed tour works out for the ABB this summer.
not to mention people are fed up with $6 beers and $35 t-shirts. people are cutting way back.

opening act will be the brothers for the dead probably for the west coast swing. East Coast they fill the seats as the closer. I would love to See Steve Miller Band or ZZ Top someone who has been aroound as long as them.

Ditto, prefer Evening with...but if they feel the need to have an opener, this would be my choice.
